Character(s): Ayame Natsuri & Ren Yukio
Time: 2:00 pm
Location: Ferris Wheel
The train ride was spent in near silence, with not much more than a few points out the window and awkward brushings of hands every so often. Now, they were seated beside each other in a Ferris wheel, something Ayame had never even seen out of books. The height was unsettling, and the screaming of children on other rides jarred her a bit, but it wouldn't take away from it.
Since she, ren, and Yousuke were young, they wanted to go to a carnival together, but her family was too strict, Ren's parents were always busy, and Yousuke's family... well, she didn't know much about them. Now that it was real, it was strange, even stranger without Yousuke.
As the car began to shake slightly, she grabbed Ren's hand and squeaked nervously. She slapped a hand over her mouth and blushed deep red, and let go. "S-Sorry..."

Ren started to laugh loudly, "Are you really that scared?" He said as he held the hand she used to cover her mouth. "Don't worry, I'm here." He smiled genuinely for once. He looked out the window to see the beautiful view, and all the people that were outside. Tons of couples lining up for the Tunnel of Love - and others just buying cotton candy to treat their significant other.
"Ayame, I've been meaning to ask you..." He said while holding her hand and staring at the girl that was right infront of her, with their knees touching slightly. "Do... you like that Atticus guy?" He said while gripping her hand tighter, feeling the frustration and anger coming.

She returned his look. It wasn't a smile or a smirk or anything that already had a name. It was one of those faces that even the greatest actor in the world couldn't duplicate. His face straightened and he asked, "Do... you like that Atticus guy?"
Was he serious? Even more, was he... blushing? This was too good. Atticus? Really? That guy Kettaro was babbling about? She smiled and looked back over the side of the car. "No, not really." she answered. "Not at all, actually. Because well, I met someone else at Aozora this year. And I think--well, I know--I really really like him." she teased. Her acting skills finally came to good use. "Why do you want to know anyways?"

Ren jumped and quickly let go of her hand - "WHAT? WHO? Do I know him?!" Ren shouted. "Oh when I find that guy -"He mumbled. He could feel his face turn hot. He raised his eyebrows - "It's Rin, isn't it? Pfff.." Ren sighed as he put a sad expression on. "Why didn't you tell me..?" Ren pouted. Who was he kidding?
The girl he liked, liked someone else. And this wasn't something an old 'sorry' would fix - this really brought him down. "I was just curious, because I like someone too." He said as he glared at her.

Rin? God, no. He was too crazy for her taste, but he was a good friend. She was still inwardly laughing about Atticus. He was just a pretty boy with a video camera, and from what she saw of him, that was about it. Ren was so much better than that. When you love someone--really, really love them, you can't explain them. You can't come up with words good enough to describe them. That's how Ayame was with Ren. Which is why it was so much more fun to torment him like this than torment herself by trying to confess her feelings and explain.
Smiling almost sympathetically, she turned his face towards hers again. "If I tell you who I like, will you tell me?" she asked, smirking.
Was he really stupid enough to be going along with this? Or... did he really like another girl? A thick, heavy feeling grew in her chest, like her heart had turned to stone. He wouldn't have gotten so upset if he didn't like her though, would he?

Ren shook his head, still pouting. "I don't care." Ren said rudely. "I don't care -" he repeated, as his gaze met hers.
"I don't care if..." Ren leaned in slowly - his eyes not leaving hers, "If it's not me." As soon as Ren said that sentence, he became bright red and leaned back into his seat. "I-i mean..." He covered his mouth with his clenched fist. "Ayame... I..."
Just say it loud and clear, Ren. You can do this.
"I think..." His heart beating faster and faster - not being able to think straight. Holding his breath, he finally said the last of the sentence he planned ever since he was merely seven years old.
"...I think I'm in love with you."

And just as quickly as he confessed, she put her hands on either side of his face and kissed him. Not on the cheek, not on the hand, on the lips. He tasted like childhood. Like sunrises and sunsets and chasing butterflies and climbing trees. He tasted like everything she thought she forgot. Her hands moved to the back of his head, and she laced her fingers through his hair. For the first time in a long time, he didn't feel far away. She could feel him there with her, and the overwhelming happiness pushed her over the edge, and tears rolled down her face.
Pulling away just enough to speak, she looked him straight in the eyes and brushed her hand across his cheek. "You idiot." she began. "Of course it's you."
And she kissed him again.

Ren's eyes widened as he felt her lips against his.

But who was complaining? Ren certainly wasn't. This was the happiest he's ever been in a long while - and before he knew it, he closed his eyes and kissed her back. Out of all the girls Ren has kissed, this was probably the first one that ever made him feel this way. This kiss was probably the only one that mattered. This was no simple kiss on the cheek - this was the real thing. And that alone made Ren jump inside. As Ayame put her hands through his hair, Ren put his hands around her neck and smiled.
"Why are you crying?" He wiped them away, "You know I don't like it when you cry." Ren kissed her on the forehead as Ayame confessed her feelings to him. No matter how predictable that was, his heart stopped. "You don't know how much those words mean to me, Ayame."
As she leaned in for another kiss, Ren went along with it, with his arms still around her neck. Was this really happening? Or was this just another cruel dream his mind played on him?
Either way, Ren was happy. Happiest he's ever been. He was finally with the girl that meant the world to him - no, more than the world. He was actually, finally..
happy with his life.

Pulling away, she wiped her eyes again. "I'm crying," she started, her voice still shaking. "because I love you. Because all I can think about is being with you. Because when I'm alone, I don't think about being with anyone other than you. And now because..."
She paused, and hugged tightly around his chest. If she listed every single reason, they'd be there forever, but she couldn't stop. "This isn't a dream. And you're not far away anymore." She sat up again and looked at him. "And because... Ryouya's last words to me were, 'I know you'll be with Ren someday.'"
"I replayed that scene in my mind over and over. When you were mad at me, I'd repeat it until I got sick of his voice. Those words were what made me keep fighting until I could come here and see you again, even if they weren't really true." She covered her face with her hands and sobbed into them. "I guess I wasn't prepared for them to be right."

Ren's surprised expression turned into a smug smile - "Ryouya said that?" He questioned as he continued wiping her tears away. "Ah, Ryouya. I miss him." He smiled as he hugged Ayame tightly. "Thank you for fighting for me, Ayame. Thank you for waiting for me. Thank you for putting up with me." He kissed her forehead and couldn't stop talking. He had so much to say, he didn't know where to start.
"You're mine now," Ren demanded as he smiled. "You're my girlfriend. No stupid americans, or Rin can get in the way of that." He pulled away as he kissed her again. "You're mine, got that?" Ren repeated as he leaned his forehead against hers.
As possessive as he seemed, he meant every word. Heck, even when they weren't together he'd get jealous of any guy that went near her. Which was probably the only reason why Ren picked fights with those guys.
"I'll try to be a good boyfriend," he said as he held her cheek. "I'll try for you."

Everything he said made her heart pound harder. Americans, ghost hunters, who the hell needed them? All she needed was him. That was it. All she needed was her bo--the word was foreign, and she decided that she'd work on it later. For now, Ren was Ren. But it was different somehow. He wasn't just Ren anymore. Now, he was hers. She didn't have to worry about any girls flirting with him or asking her about him.
"I'll try to be a good boyfriend," he said as he held her cheek. "I'll try for you."
Wiping the last of the tears off her face, she smiled. "And I'll try to be a good girlfriend." she said, her voice still shaking. Her attention wasn't on anything but Ren, and when the ferris wheel began to stop to let people off, her heart almost stopped. She was waiting to wake up, and for it to all just be a dream, but she could still feel Ren's hand on her cheek, and her heart was still beating like a drum. It was all real.
When they get off the ride, it'll still be real, and when they get back to Aozora, it would still be real. It was a dream she didn't have to worry about waking up from because it wasn't a dream at all. It was reality.
"So Ren," she mumbled, looking away. "How exactly are we going to explain this to Yousuke?"

As the ride stopped, Ren looked over and held Ayame's hand as she was about to get off. "Let's stay." Ren liked this ride, not only because Ayame agreed to be his girlfriend on it - but it was because the slow movement calmed him down. "Y-yousuke?" Ren blinked a few times, still holding her warm hand.
"You always find a way to bring him up, hm? Sometimes I think you'd go for Yousuke instead of me if You-nii wasn't gay." Ren teased as he shrugged. "...You don't like You-nii, do you?" He glared at her intensely. What if she did? "That would be awkward.." he thought. But they both clearly confessed to each other a few minutes ago - and that's all that mattered.
He leaned back and tapped his lips a few times, "that was your first kiss, correct?" he winked at the girl. "Well, I stole Ayame's first kiss." He laughed, "I wouldn't have it any other way." He leaned over and kissed her on the forehead again - being too happy for his own good.

"Yousuke?" she asked flatly. "Ren he's like our brother. And besides," She paused, and kissed his cheek. "I love you. I more than love you."
"Well, I stole Ayame's first kiss."
Her face turned red again. For all she knew, Ren could have a kid somewhere. But regardless of what he did in his past, she was in love with him the way she was when she was little. Yousuke was always trying to get her to confess, but she'd always deny that she liked Ren at all. Of course back then, it wasn't intense. Back then, being boyfriend and girlfriend really didn't make much difference because they weren't around anyone but each other.
When he kissed her forehead, her senses stopped working. Her vision blurred and the sounds of screaming children disappeared. The feeling was so intense and surreal that she thought that at any moment she'd be arrested for such a high. It was stronger than any drug she could imagine.
"Hey, Ren." she said, smirking. "What was your first kiss like?"

"My first kiss?" Ren looked up into thought, trying to dig up that specific memory. "Wow, that was quite some time ago." He raised his eyebrows, trying to find a way to explain it to his new girlfriend. "Promise not to get mad...?" He said with a sigh.
"Well, I was about 14 at the time. And I was walking down the streets and saw a girl I had a minor crush on with another guy... her boyfriend, I think." He put his hand over his head while avoiding eye contact. "I knew she liked me too, but she thought she didn't have a chance with me so she went out with that guy.. and I didn't like that guy, at all." He frowned a bit, not sure why he remembered all of this. "He had a bad history with girls, so..."
"...So I kissed her to piss him off." he said with a blunt and rude tone. "God, why do you even want to know?" He said while getting a bit frustrated.

"You're kind of a dick." she laughed. "But I still love you. The past is behind us, and as long as you're not kissing any other girls, I don't care."
Worried by his sudden frustration, she put her hand on his knee. "Relax. I was just curious." she said, looking out at the world below them. Everyone down below looked so small and insignificant, but she thought about every single one of them, and wondered if they'd ever experienced something like what she was. She wondered if they'd ever fallen in love with anyone and how it turned out. The world was just a Pandora's Box of stories, and hers was just one of many, nothing special, but to her it meant the world and much more.
"I know it sounds silly, but I kind of made a promise when I was younger that you'd be my first kiss. So even when I met this guy a year or two back, and he tried to kiss me, I wouldn't let him. Even if I did kind of like him." she mused, putting her head on his shoulder.
