"Where are we going!?" Kurumi asked, giggling a bit. The sound of her giggling made his stomach do flips and turns and everything else he could think of. His face turned beet red, and he quickly turned away.
"I uh... I guess we could uh.. Kanata, you're the one with the map." he said stiffly, wiping his forehead with his wrist, hoping the two girls would think his blush was from the heat and not...from nerves and feelings and other things he, a boy, wasn't supposed to feel.
Of course, in September, with a temperature of just 70 degrees, that wasn't going to cut it. He coughed loudly, covering his mouth with his fist. "Wow, I love being a man. And not having girl feelings for girls. Because feelings are homosexual."

They all stopped running when they realized that they didn't know exactly where they were going. Kanata noticed Haru's red face and how his eyes kept flicking over to Kurumi. Was he scared that he might break out into another allergic reaction? But he told Kurumi to stay and come along. Her eyebrows knotted together and her cheeks puffed up. This was making her brain hurt.
"I uh... I guess we could uh.. Kanata, you're the one with the map," the boy said in a strained voice. All the air from Kanata's cheeks went out as she opened her mouth in reply. "Oh yeah! I do!" She pulled out the pamphlet from her back pocket and opened it up so that they could all view it. "I don't mind going anywhere twice so you two can decide!" she said brightly.
"Wow, I love being a man. And not having girl feelings for girls. Because feelings are homosexual." Is what Kanata heard Haru mutter. But she was confused. The tone- that was sarcasm right? But there was a word that she didn't understand. Homosexual. She racked her brain to try and find a time when that had been used elsewhere. The old people in her village told her that homosexuals were bad. But they had never explained why or what it was. She decided that this would be the perfect opportunity to find out.
"What's homosexual?"

Kurumi smiled, pulling her hand free and fixing her beanie. She looked at the two, fixing her dress, which had seemed to wrinkle itself. "Oh!" she gasped, looking over Kanata's shoulder. "Can we go see the otters?" she asked hopefully.
"Wow, I love being a man. And not having girl feelings for girls. Because feelings are homosexual."
"What's homosexual?"
Okay, Kurumi was in no way book smart, but she didn't live under a rock. She knew what homosexual was and she knew that Haru was wrong. Or he was informed wrong. Nibbling on her bottom lip she thought of how to explain it to them. "Well, homosexual is when you like someone who is the same gender as you... romantically. So if you liked me like you would like a boyfriend, Kanata, you'd be homosexual. And Haru, if you wanted to kiss a boy on the lips... then you would be homosexual. Feelings for girls aren't homosexual... okay?" she hoped that explanation was satisfactory.

The words flew in one ear and out the other, as Haru's attention was elsewhere. A man sitting under a tree with a girl kissed her hand, and smiled at her. Interested, Haru placed one hand in his pocket, and took Kurumi's in the other. He winked, and kissed it. "You're so smart, Fujimoto." he said softly, leading her towards the otter exhibit. There wasn't anyone in the world he wanted to impress more than her.
He looked over his shoulder and grinned at Kanata. "Well, wherever you two would like to go, I'm all for it." he said kindly, bowing. In all the romance movies he'd seen, it was the man that was the nicest that got the girl he wanted, and he wanted the same.

Haru was looking else where as Kurumi spoke to him and that annoyed her. Here I am trying to explain-- She turned her head to see what was more important but her thoughts were interrupted. Teal hues blinked and a faint blush rose to her cheeks as her hand was taken hostage and kissed by the red head. His wink didn't help the blush either. Was this the first time she was realizing that he was really cute? No way, she had to have noticed it before.
"You're so smart, Fujimoto."
"Actually I'm pretty dumb, I'm practically failing all of my classes that aren't dance. I don't know why I have to take all of those. I came here to dance... not to do math." She huffed, being dragged along again. She turned her head too, trying to see through her waves of teal, at Kanata. "Yeah, after the otters you pick!"
