Location: Nurse's Office

With this being his first morning at Aozora Academy, Akio thought it'd be a good idea to walk around the campus and see the new faces of the people he'd be helping soon - and of course, his co-workers.

And to his amazement, the campus was actually really big. He didn't imagine that a school could be this large. He felt like he was in a maze, and he didn't want to admit it, but he was lost. Stopping by the nearest room to ask for directions, Akio sighed softly. He wasn't the type to be saying 'hello' or anything at first, so this was pretty foreign to him.

"The Nurse's Office?" Akio tilted his head a bit and knocked on the door slightly, hoping that he wasn't bothering anybody. With his paperwork and books at hand, he waited patiently for someone to open the door so he could find his way to his office - if he had one.

Shigeru had been enjoying his self allocated smoke lunch break when he was rudely interrupted by a knock at the door. Half growling a sigh, the man put down his news paper and put his cigarette back in his mouth. Shigeru launched himself from his desk, rolling across the room at high speeds on his office chair. Speeds so high, in fact, he did not have time to brace himself and ended up skidding into the wall with a loud bang. "FUCK," he screamed, kicking the door open with his foot, "Waddya want, Kid?!" He snapped, rubbing his head distractedly and not at all aware of that fact that his visitor was not another annoying student. Finally looking up, Shigeru locked eyes with the other man and quickly stood up, picking his cigarette from his mouth. He'd never seen the face before, not that he was any good at remembering faces anyway. Looking the man over, he slowly put his smoke back in his mouth and composed himself. "May I help you?" He asked coolly.

"FUCK!"

Akio jumped a bit - not expecting that kind of language coming from the other side of the door. "U-uh, Sir, are you alri-" Before Akio could finish his sentence, the door flew open, causing him to jump once more. To his surprise, an adult was sitting in a chair with a cigarette in his mouth. Coughing a bit because of the smoke, Akio answered his question.

"Hello! My name's Akio Kajima, I'm the school's new Guidance Counsellor! I uhm.." Akio blinked a few times, feeling the awkward atmosphere that was surrounding the two of them. He wasn't sure how he should finish his sentence. "You can say I'm a bit... lost." He bluntly added after his random pause.

"..Should you really be smoking on school grounds, Sir?" Akio asked sheepishly as he gripped his books and binders tightly, scared that this male would punch him in the face or something.

Shigeru narrowed his eyes, and though he did it only out of curiosity, the movement caused his face to become, unbeknownst to him, quite the scary addition to his already intimidating airs. He didn't mean to be intimidating, really. He just didn't know how the hell else to respond to doing something so embaressing - and in front of a new teacher as well!
Taking a drag of his smoke, Shigeru took it out of his mouth and exhaled with a shrug. "Haven't gotten in trouble for it yet," He said simply, "but if you find it bothersome, I'll put it out." He dropped the stub onto the floor and put it out with his foot, tucking his now free hands into his pockets. "My names Shigeru Ichinomiya, school nurse. You're out of luck comin' here for directions. I only know the way to my office and the men's toilets, the rest I really couldn't care about." Shigeru paused before adding thoughtfully, "No idea why they'd make a school this big in the first place, I mean, it's not like they've gotta accommodate a bunch of fat kids." Taking a step back into the room, the nurse gave a small smile. "Why don't ya come in for a bit? I'll make coffee."
The making of coffee was purely self motivated, and with the thought of that beautiful, brown, caffeinated elixir drew him away from the door and over to his personal coffee pot without a second thought.

Akio felt like hiding when Shigeru looked at him like that - What was he getting himself into? He felt really intimidated, and right now he'd rather be wandering on for countless hours than get beat up by the School's... Nurse.

Before Akio could really respond, the guy already put out his cigarette. He just stood there in awe, looking at the mess he made on the floor. This guy sure was strange. Akio nodded a few times as he heard his response. "Ah, I apologize for bothering you then, Shigeru!" Akio responded in the most friendly tone.

"Coffee? That sounds great, I appreciate it." He smiled as he took a step inside the messy office. "...Woah." Akio said to himself quietly as he continued to look around the small room. "I.. really like your office..!" Akio said while smiling nervously, hoping to get on his good side.

The nurse twitched a little at being called 'Shigeru' right after meeting the guy, but he didn't really mind. Pulling out two mugs, he had just begun to pour when Akio commented on his office. Looking up, he stared at him blankly. "Why...? It's a complete shit hole..." Shigeru shook his head, chuckling. "You sure have some weird taste... but, whatever suits you, man." With a grin, he poured and held up one of the mugs. "Milk or sugar?" He asked, giving the beverage a little shake. He always made the offer to others, but never took it up himself. He liked his coffee undiluted and at its strongest, that way it made up for his lack of alcohol during school hours.

"Why...? It's a complete shit hole..."

There was not a moment where Akio wasn't surprised at this man's actions. "So he knows its a shit hole. Alright then." Akio thought to himself as he started laughing - making himself look even stupider by the second. "I probably look like an idiot right now..." He scrached the back of his head and placed his books on the table, sitting on the bed.

"Oh, sugar, please!" Akio said as he grabbed the hot cup of coffee in his cold hands and smiled. He was nicer than he expected, and he soon realized that he wasn't just a co-worker now, he was an acquaintance and soon, hopefully - his friend.

Trying to pick a few topics to talk about, Akio looked around. "So, how long have you been working here at Aozora?" He flashed another one of his signature smiles, glad that they were getting a long.

Shigeru dumped some sugar in the man's coffee after he'd taken it, finding him quite the amusing little man.

"So, how long have you been working here at Aozora?"

Shigeru paused, a thoughtful look drawing his eyebrows into a knot. "Ah, shit... uhm... Four... no, wait... five years? I dunno. Long enough to know I hate a lot of people." He chuckled and walked over to his abandoned chair, rolling it back across the room and taking a seat, his own coffee in hand. His impression of Akio was good so far. He seemed a little awkward and maybe even a bit ditzy, but all in all he gave off a nice vibe. Shigeru liked nice vibes. Blowing on his drink before taking a sip, he crossed his legs and leant back into his chair comfortably. "What about you? What did you do before you came here?" He asked, smiling a little himself.

"Five years?" Akio's eyes widened in amazement, "That's a pretty long time! Should I be calling you Senpai then?" He said with a small laugh as he took a sip out of his sweet coffee.

"What about you? What did you do before you came here?"
Akio was a little shocked that a question was thrown at him - and he didn't know how to answer it. What exactly was he doing before he came to Aozora? Akio sighed, "Well! I just graduated University a few months ago." He smiled as he remembered his own previous achievements. "And took a small break, and now here I am!" He was surprised at how cheerful he was acting; Was it the coffee?

He wasn't usually this happy and cheerful, but being treated nicely by someone else can put you into a really great mood. "Oh, uhm.. thanks for the coffee and all!" Akio randomly added, "It's a lot better than walking for hours, not knowing where you're going..!"

"Should I be calling you Senpai then?"
Shigeru raised an eyebrow, "If that floats your boat, go ahead and float it. I don't mind either way. You could call me Mehitable McSoon the third and I wouldn't care."

"What did you do before you came here?"
A small grin flickered across his face, "Same thing as you, by the sounds of it. Came here right after graduating." Akio's optimistic attitude was beginning to rub off on Shigeru. Putting his cup down, he leaned forward, placing his elbows on his knees and resting his chin on his hands. "Anything would be better than walking around here for hours. You'd be more likely to get shot than find where you're supposed to go." The nurse laughed at himself. "You can come and hang out whenever you want, I'm not usually busy. Kids behave themselves well enough." Shigeru cocked his head. He didn't usually get this chummy with people so fast. In fact, in the time it'd taken for the two to even get to be this chummy he'd of usually driven off the person by now.

His mind drifted off and he found his hand twitching for a cigarette. About to reach across his desk and grab one, he quickly corrected himself and froze before any movement was made. Wait, he doesn't like it... He thought absently, before kicking himself mentally. When the fuck did I start caring? Sighing, Shigeru returned his eyes to Akio. "How old're you?" He asked in an attempt to distract himself from his addiction.

As Akio spotted Shigeru's hand reach for another cigarette, Akio smiled. "If you want to smoke go ahead." He said, being considerate. "Although it really is bad for you, have you ever thought about stopping...?" Akio pried, if anyone knew how bad it was to get addicted to things like cigarettes, it was Akio. He lost a beloved family member because of it.

"How old?" Akio repeated stupidly as he cocked his head to the side, almost forgetting his age. "Ah! I'm 22." Laughing a bit he took another sip of his coffee, loosening his tie. "And yourself?"

He was glad he wasn't alone on the fact he came here right after he graduated. Usually, he found his classmates taking a year off or something - or just getting random jobs and quitting them right after. It really is hard finding a job you could commit to the rest of your life, though.

Shigeru scowled at the "Bad for you" comment, growling slightly under his breath. Unconsciously, he edged his chair away from Akio and sat up to his full height. However, with a simple laugh Akio had blown Shigeru's looming cloud of anger away and once again a small smile touched his lips. "29." He informed the man, "I was born on the 11th of January." Shigeru picked his mug back up and drank a mouthful, already forgetting that he has ever been pissed off at the younger man. "Guess that means I'm double your senpai now." Shigeru laughed and flicked a ball of paper he'd scrunched up previously into his small paper bin with incredible aim. Almost in perfect timing with his goal, the school bell began to ring - signalling the start of the student's lunch break. "Ah. That time already? I'm sure you can ask a student to help you with directions, if you want." He suggested to Akio lazily. However, he wasn't all that keen on him going as he seemed.

"29? Wow, Shigeru-senpai! You don't look like that at all!" Akio said with a surprised tone; but it was true. He looked young. He thought that he was around his age, but knowing that he was "double his senpai now", it blew his mind. It was really, really weird.

As the bell rang, Akio looked up at the clock. "Ah, I should get going." He said as he placed the empty coffee cup on the table. He flashed another smile, "I think I'll just ask around for directions, I'm sure the Guidance Office isn't far." He said as he grabbed his books and headed for the door.

Before he left, he turned around and bowed slightly. "T-thank you again, Shigeru-senpai!" He said sheepishly as he opened the door slowly. "I'll be sure to visit you again, I appreciate your hospitality..!" He waved, "And if you ever do end up finding the Guidance Office I'll be sure to return the favour!"

"You don't look like that at all!"
Shigeru snickered at Akio's exclamation. "Yeah, I get that a lot."

Watching the councillor make his way to the door, Shigeru found himself scowling at the prospect of being cooped up in his shit hole all alone again. He didn't have much to do with the other teachers, and therefore didn't have much to do with people other than annoying little god damn students. "Here," he got on his feet and stretched, tucking his shaggy hair behind one ear, "I'll come with. There're some students here you wouldn't trust to hold your lollipop."
It was all an elaborate (well, ok, not so much) lie on Shigeru's behalf. He was certain the man would be fine on his own, however he felt an itching need to get the hell out of his office for the first time in maybe the whole year. "Don't put off for tomorrow what you can do today, right? Might as well learn where that office of yours is while I'm free." Casually, he stepped past the shorter man and into the corridor that had begun to fill with the chattering and ramblings of young teenagers in that horrid state of puberty that did nothing but piss him off.

"C-come with?" Akio smiled a bit, honoured that he would actually put up with him a little more. "That's fine by me, I appreciate it Shigeru-senpai!" He said as he opened the door fully and stepped out into the hallway with Shigeru following him.

As he looked at Shigeru's expressions, he knew that he didn't really enjoy kids. Which was odd, since he was the school nurse, and it was his job to take care of sick or injured teenagers. "So which way?" Akio said as he pointed with both his fingers.

"Left or right?"
