Is singing just that, singing?

Hello. I was just wondering that if I put a character's major as "singing" is it that the character mostly just sings and maybe has a hand in playing instruments? Or can the character also just mainly play an instrument?

The player can also play an instrument. It's just called the singing/vocal division, but it includes both instruments and singing.

My character majors in singing but she plays the piano, too, and no one has told me I'm doing it wrong yet.
