Character(s): Yousuke Kiyama, Ayame Natsuri Time: 9PM Location: Rooftop
Didn't you just get drunk two nights ago? Yousuke asked himself as he stared at the taunting bottle of alcohol that sat on the man's desk. Yeah, so? What's the point? He retaliated. The man refused to allow the "good" side of him to reply and thus leaned over to grab the bottle. It was just alcohol, right? It wasn't like he got drunk often!
You just got drunk two days ago, dumbfu--
He interrupted his own thoughts with the first gulp. It burned like acid, but the sensation soon went away. Anyways, it was night! Yousuke was 23! He deserved some alcohol, right? It wasn't like he was out partying to go with it. No, he was just sitting by himself at his office after a long day of playing sports outside with the kids. As long as he didn't drink too much, it was completely harmless. Comforted with these thoughts, he gulped down some more.
...He ended up drinking too much.
He had also somehow ended up at the rooftop of the school. He didn't know how, it just happened. Yousuke wasn't particularly strong when it came to alcohol tolerance.
"I'M DA BEST SAKKA PLAYAR EVAAAAAAR!" he screamed out into the night air, "I'M DA BEST I'M DA BEEEEEEEST!" he sang, using his right fist as a faux microphone and included a few horribly done dance moves (including a little hip jerk that turned out to be an attempted pelvic thrust) as well. He then skipped around the entire rooftop, flailing his arms wildly.
Yousuke already had the personality of a little child, but once he was incoherent and out of it -- he was like an extremely energetic toddler just learning how to speak.

Ayame walked up the stairs to the roof. Yousuke always planned his meetings in such odd places that if she hadn't known him since she was so young, she'd think he was a child molester or something. Pushing the door open, she looked around. "Yousuke, you said you wanted to see me abo--"
"I'M DA BEST SAKKA PLAYAR EVAAAAAAR!"
"...Right."
"I'M DA BEST I'M DA BEEEEEEEST!"
Ayame dropped her shoulders and sighed. "Oi, oi, calm down Cristiano Ronaldo, you're a gym teacher at a school full of rich, tight-assed pixies with too much money, let's not get too ahead of ourselves." She furrowed her brows and stuck out her lip, annoyed that Yousuke had gotten drunk again. How was he even getting this alcohol on campus? And why did he even have to drink so much? Was he not happy with life?
"Yousuke, is this because you're twenty-three years old and you're still a virgin?" she asked flatly, putting her hands on her hips.

"AYAAAAA-CHAAAAN!" Yousuke dreamily sang as the girl entered the rooftop. She obviously looked like she had better things to do, but what Yousuke perceived on her face was an expression of eagerness. "Didja miss me?" he asked, floating over towards her with his arms outstretched. "Give me a hug!" he said, bringing her close without waiting for an answer and squeezing the smaller girl tight.
"Yousuke, is this because you're twenty-three years old and you're still a virgin?"
The man froze.
"I hate you Aya-chan." he pouted, releasing her from his lopsided embrace and floating back to where he stood before. "I try to be nice to you and everythin' by invitin' you up here but you just can't appreciate me, can you?" he whined, his words slurring more and more by the moment.
"I even gave you a hug too~" he continued childishly, "I bet even Ren hasn't hugged you yet and I think you like him better than me!" he complained, shaking his head violently as if he was trying to get rid of something that was between his ears, "You know what!" he added loudly, "I'm sure that you like Ren better than me! I saw you too all da time all those years ago! You like him more than me! No no, don't bother with the excuses young lady! You like him more, but I--" he beat one of his fists against his chest, "--I took it like a man! I knew you didn't like me as much but I didn't cry one BIT!"

"Don't be silly, Yousuke." she laughed. "Of course Ren hasn't hugged me, he hasn't hugged anyone in years, probably. Unless of course that flaming homo roommate of his finally got to him." She tiptoed up beside him and looked out into the black sky. "Hey, You-nii," she began. "Do you remember when we were little and you told Ren and I where babies come from? Since that day, I've practiced singing a lot. That's stupid, right? Especially now that I know how it really works, and now that Ren's... changed." Turning to Yousuke, with his red eyes and cheeks, she took the bottle from his hand and tossed it over the side of the roof. "You say crazy enough things without it, You-nii." she mumbled, still watching the grey clouds moving lifelessly against the dark sky. "Anyways, I ended up going out with Ren the yesterday. He's really not as bad as he let us think at first. I don't like him more than you Yousuke, but I finally like him again--" She stopped abruptly, and bit her tongue. "You know... err... He's not the same person we met in the hall a few days ago." Smiling to herself, she wiped the sweat off Yousuke's face with the sleeves of her sweatshirt. "You should come with us next time. It'll be fun. Just like old times."

"FLAMING HOMO?!" Yousuke suddenly screeched, alarmed. "WHY'S HE ON FIRE?! OH GOOOOOOOOD!" the man suddenly ran across the rooftop towards the building that contained the door and the stairs leading down to the school. On the side of the building was a single fire extinguisher, in which Yousuke latched himself onto and tried to pull away with no avail.
After calming down a bit, he headed back to the edge of the rooftop, glancing out over the railing. Ayame had tiptoed beside him. "Oh yeah I remember dat~" he laughed, "That was a long time ago though!" he paused and then turned to the girl beside him, a wide and carefree smile shown on his face, "I'm glad you've been singing more though. I always thought that you and Ren--"
Before he could finish, however, Ayame had taken his bottle and flung it over the railing. "AYA-CHAN!" he wailed, reaching over the railing for the bottle that had fallen to the depths below, "I was still drinking dat!" he slurred. He continued to whine a bit for several minutes, looking back over the railing every few seconds in hope that his precious bottle would somehow fly back to him.
"I would love to go with you two next time!" he grinned widely. It would be his first outing with Ayame and Ren since ten years ago, and if he was sober then he would have been able to rejoice at the thought. However, he was drunk, and the thoughts that ran through his head were all simple and straightforward. He suddenly leaned closer to Ayame, a mischievous smile appearing on his face.
"I know you love him~" Yousuke suddenly sang loudly, "I knew it ever since you two were little! You-nii knows eveeeeerything!"

Rubbing her forehead, she watched as Yousuke pried at the anchored fire extinguisher. She could teach him what a flaming homo was another day. Maybe he'd actually get laid in the process. ...Good one.
Smiling at Yousuke and all of his slurred gibberish, she was reminded of him in his younger days. Although, right now, he was acting like days younger than she'd been around to see, and carefully observed all of his awkward movements and stumbling. When he suddenly leaned close to her, she stepped back.
"Yousuke, what the hell are you-"
"I know you love him~" Yousuke suddenly sang loudly, "I knew it ever since you two were little! You-nii knows eveeeeerything!"
She straightened her expression, and pushed his face away. "Be quiet, Yousuke. You're an awfully mouthy drunk." But he wasn't very far off, was he? "Ren is Ren, Yousuke. That's all."

When Ayame pushed his face away, Yousuke's expression suddenly turned into a pout again. Shaking his head, the man backed away from the other girl and instead leaned over the railing to look out at the night sky. Well, when Yousuke couldn't really see anything clearly - so he was just looking at a dark blurry blob of midnight blue instead of the sky above but he couldn't really tell the difference anyways.
"Be quiet, Yousuke. You're an awfully mouthy drunk."
"DON'T TELL ME WAT TO DOOOOO!" he yelled, turning towards her, "I can be loud if I wan to! Because my name is Yo-yo...yo-somethin'!" For some reason, whenever the man got drunk enough he almost always forgot the last two syllables of his first name. His mind really was in a giant mess.
"Ren is Ren, Yousuke. That's all."
"Of course Ren is Ren, Aya-chan." laughed Yousuke as if she had stated something stupid, "But that Ren is the one that you love, right?" He suddenly began to giggle childishly as he started to chant, "Aya-chan likes someone, Aya-chan likes someone~ and I know who dat someone issssss!~"

"But that Ren is the one that you love, right?"
"Aya-chan likes someone, Aya-chan likes someone~ and I know who dat someone issssss!~"
Blushing and unknotting her fist, she sighed and joined Yousuke by the railing, leaning over to look how far up they were, how huge the world around them really was. To think that just a few days ago, the school seemed so big, when in actuality, it was so small.
"You know, Yousuke, I really hope you don't remember this after you sober up." she said, smiling. "It's not that I don't love him, it's just that I don't think I do the way you're saying."
Yousuke was pretty easy to talk to in this state, despite being obnoxious and loud. At least he was so drunk off his rocker that she wouldn't have to deal with it later. Hopefully. She hoped to speak with him another time when he was a bit more... aware of his surroundings.

Yousuke couldn't help but smile when he saw that Ayame had blushed. That's my Aya-chan~ he thought proudly, knowing that he had won this round. It was, after all, his goal to make both Ren and Ayame make their stubborn little confessions since they reunited several days ago. However, the man had been so worried and concerned over how they would react to his obvious hinting that he had decided to call Ayame to the rooftop and then drink a bit so that he would have an excuse for talking about the two's relationship.
After all, when Yousuke was drunk, the only thing he talked about was the things currently most precious to him.
"You know, Yousuke, I really hope you don't remember this after you sober up."
"What's 'sober up'?!" Yousuke laughed as if she had said something stupidly hilarious, "Is dat something normal drunk people do? HAH, NEVER! I'mma stay like dis forever! Drunk and perfect!~" He spread out his arms triumphantly.
"It's not that I don't love him, it's just that I don't think I do the way you're saying."
"No, you love him." Yousuke said, his voice surprisingly serious for his current drunken state, "I know it. I'm You-nii, remember? I'm a teacher, remember? I know things! But, even if I'm right or wrong..." his voice quieted, but he looked at Ayame directly in the eye, "...you do know that I'll still be here for you two, right?"
A smile suddenly broke out onto his face, clearing away his serious expression. "Ahhhhhhh, the wind feels so niiiiice!~" he sang as he backed away from the railing and skipped around in circles again, "I feel free, Aya-chan! Like I can fly! Like I can just leap off that railing and soar across the town!"

For the time, Yousuke's words just sounded like drunken babble, but suddenly, what he was saying was making sense. He hadn't said a word about soccer or gay boys on fire in a while, just Ren. More specifically, her relationship with him.
"...you do know that I'll still be here for you two, right?"
A blush splashed across her face again. "Y-Yousuke..." Her heart quivered in her chest, and her eyes started to burn.
Watching as Yousuke skipped and danced around the rooftop, the instant he stopped moving, she ran up and threw her arms around his middle, burying her face in his chest like she did when she was a little kid. She clutched the thin fabric of his shirt, and held her breath. "Thank you, Yousuke." she whispered. "Thank you for being my brother, and being my friend, and not ever leaving."
She took a breath and let go. "But you can't jump over the rail, alright You-nii?"

When Ayame threw her around him, Yousuke froze. When was the last time he had hugged her? It seemed like ages ago, and he was pretty sure that he hadn't hugged her since he first met her again several days ago--
Oh, he had just hugged her several minutes ago.
But this was different. This was genuine. Even Yousuke's drunk mind could figure that out. He wrapped his arms around her in return, merely smiling as she buried her face into his chest. God, words couldn't explain how much he loved her and Ren. Drunk or sober, it didn't matter, they meant the world to him.
"Thank you, Yousuke. Thank you for being my brother, and being my friend, and not ever leaving."
"I won't leave." he laughed softly, trying to fight the urge to cry, "I will never leave you and Ren." He would have said more, but his mind was still too fuzzy to articulate anything else. "And jump off the rail?!" he exclaimed, surprised, "Why would I do that?! But now that you mention it... it does sound like fun!" he giggled once more, his face still a little pink from the alcohol. "I could fly then, right?"
The conversation about Ren was over, Yousuke knew that it was settled. Now, though, he just had to talk to Ren...but he would think about that when he was sober.

"And jump off the rail?! Why would I do that?! But now that you mention it... it does sound like fun!" "I could fly then, right?"
If it was ten years ago, Ayame would have believed he could fly. Back then, it seemed like Yousuke could do anything. If they'd lived closer to the ocean, she would have thought he could walk on water. For a while, he made her believe he could talk to the birds just by whistling and imitating their coos and chirps.
"No, Yousuke, you can't fly." she said, shaking her head. "But I think you should go to bed." She flipped her phone open. "It's almost ten now."
Grabbing his arm, and starting to drag him to the staircase, she laughed like a child. "It's fun to finally talk to you again, Yousuke. Don't forget about a day out with me and Ren okay? Maybe this weekend?"

"No, Yousuke, you can't fly. But I think you should go to bed. It's almost ten now."
"DON'T TELL ME WAT TO DO!" he whined, "I can fly if I want to!" He shook his head wildly, but he allowed Ayame to lead him towards the entrance. He suddenly paused, however, and grabbed at the cell phone she had pulled out. "Ooh, what's that?~" he giggled, attempting to grab it away from her but to no avail.
"It's fun to finally talk to you again, Yousuke. Don't forget about a day out with me and Ren okay? Maybe this weekend?"
As he arrived at the staircase, he looked back at Ayame, a large smile appearing on his face. He began to descend down the staircase first. "Dis weekend sounds good!" he laughed, "We can watch movies and play games and stuff!~" he sang as he stumbled down a step. "~and then we can go and play video games or visit that carnival for the day and--" his voice continued to sing out suggestions as he went farther and farther down the staircase. He wasn't even sure if Ayame could even hear him anymore.
When he reached the bottom of the stairwell, he raised his head to look above. He cupped his hands around his mouth and shouted out, "I LOVE YOU AYAME!" Because Yousuke did. He really, really loved them both. He then whirled around and stumbled down the corridor, heading back to his dorm.
END.
