Hikaru lay down on his bed, and sighed. Should he decide to unpack now or wait a tad longer. "Ugh," Hikaru sighed as he sat up, irked by the thought that he would still have to unpack anyways.

Whatever. Hikaru just didn't hope his room mate would mind. Speaking of roomies, his was one by the name of Naoki Kohaku. Finally deciding on what he should do, Hikaru slid off his bed and walked to the boxes nearby. He sat down and slowly, and probably rather reluctantly, began to pull the tape off the boxes, and unpack.

Naoki entered his dorm room after going out for a bit. He had already came to the dorm earlier to get situated, but then he got hungry. So, he had stepped out and walked to the groceries to grab a few ingredients for a meal or two.

However, he wasn't expecting to see his room mate already in the room when he came back. Hell, he wasn't expecting to see anyone. The thing that made it worse was that they were complete strangers. Naoki looked at the male stretched out on one of the beds and started having his strange thoughts again.

Is he my room mate? What if he's not and he's actually here to kill me? What did I even do?! Or maybe he's my real room mate's boyfriend?! I wouldn't be surprised if everyone was gay at this school!! OH GOD, WHAT IF HE HITS ON ME??"

Naoki was pressed at the door, avoiding all eye contact with the stranger in the room. He didn't even open his mouth. He just stood there in an awkward position, waiting for something to happen.

'Mm?' Hikaru yawned a bit before stretching his arms up.

Hikaru was busy trying to balance the piles of books next to him. He looked up as the door opened, and pressed against it was a brown haired boy, and something in his greenish eyes told Hikaru the kid felt a wee bit uncomfortable.

A whole load of Hikaru's crap had been strewn around him, to blazers to shirts and huge piles of books. "Uh, well, hi," Hikaru said to him, giving him a slight wave and tipping his fedora off slightly to the new boy. He grinned, "You're Naoki Kohaku, I take it? I'm Hikaru Akane."

Trying to calm himself, Naoki started his movements like a robot to take off his shoes. The brunette slowly made a glance at the stranger. He seemed clean, which was really good if Naoki didn't want to tidy up the room for once.

And before Naoki knew it, the boy had already memorized his name.

"You're Naoki Kohaku, I take it? I'm Hikaru Akane."

"Ah-- Yes! P-P-Pleased to meet you, Hikaru Akane," the brunette managed to choke out. He bowed towards the other boy and stayed like that for a bit.

"I, uh, bought some groceries to make dinner..." he started as he straightened his back. "T-That's if you wanted something to eat! Unless you... don't like eating?"

"Ah-- Yes! P-P-Pleased to meet you, Hikaru Akane," The boy choked out, and bowed to Hikaru.

Uh, uh, uh, shit, was I supposed to bow too? Crap, HIkaru thought but stood up and faced his new room mate, and extended his hand to him. "The pleasure is mine."

"I, uh, bought some groceries to make dinner..." Naoki began, straightening his back. "T-That's if you wanted something to eat! Unless you... don't like eating?"

"Ahh, that's alright, it's alright! You don't have to be so nervous!" This made Hikaru laugh rather good-naturedly. "And I don't mind dinner at all. So that means you can cook pretty well, am I right?"

When Hikaru wanted to shake hands, Naoki thought otherwise. Everything was in slow motion-- like an action movie when someone fires a bullet and the camera zooms up on it. A voice had came up and cut off all connections related to thinking for a bit.

"The pleasure is mine."

"U-Uh...! Oka...ay...?" Naoki robot-ed his free hand and shook his room mate's hand in a very stiffed pattern.

"Ahh, that's alright, it's alright! You don't have to be so nervous! And I don't mind dinner at all. So that means you can cook pretty well, am I right?"

Naoki felt flattered for some reason. He hasn't really felt flattered since... ever? But, his room mate was being so reassuring that the brunette began calming down. "I-I can cook. It's just--err-- something that's sort of fun for me, H-Hikaru..." Naoki managed as he tested out the new name that deemed to be a really pretty one.

Then Naoki shook his hands, rather stiffly, Hikaru thought but said nothing. Maybe he needs time to open up, he wondered, and smiled.

"I-I can cook. It's just--err-- something that's sort of fun for me, H-Hikaru..."

"Oh!" Hikaru then reflected on the fact that he couldn't cook. Not at all, not for nuts. "That's great, well since," he paused. A flashback of a cooking course he had to take in a previous school ran through his mind; the smell of burning, the memory of not changing 'degrees celcius' to 'farhenheit' on a machine. That did not turn out right. "Well since I can't cook, not at all. So what's for dinner tonight? If you're cooking at all, of course."

"That's great, well since," Hikaru paused.

A long moment flew by and Naoki started feeling the awkward tensions. "Since..." he tried to drag. It seems as if the other boy was in a state of thinking a really obscure thought.

The familiar voice was picked right back up and it startled Naoki a bit-- making him jolt his shoulders.
"Well since I can't cook, not at all. So what's for dinner tonight? If you're cooking at all, of course."

While lifting up the bag of groceries that the brunette had in his hand, he smiled sheepishly towards his roommate. "W-Well, I would--um! I would really... l-love to make you dinner, Hikaru."

He let out a breath as if he was holding it underwater and maneuvered himself out of the doorway. "... I'll be making yakizakana tonight, so--" he paused to think about the other while making his way towards the kitchen. "--Er! That is... if you don't mind eating fish and rice, H-Hikaru... I could always make something else!!"

"W-Well, I would--um! I would really... l-love to make you dinner, Hikaru." Naoki replied after Hikaru finally managed to string his sentence together. "Wow," he laughed, "thanks, man."

"Yakizakana," Hikaru repeated, "never heard of it, but the fish and rice sounds pretty good." He watched Naoki move from the doorway to the kitchen -to be honest, Hikaru was so busy unpacking he hadn't even had time to check the kitchen-, groceries and whatnot in his hands. "Uh, I suck at cooking, but do you need any help or other?"

When Hikaru thanked Naoki, he felt a smile growing upon his face. It felt really nice to hear those words from someone who he had just met.

"Yakizakana-- never heard of it, but the fish and rice sounds pretty good."

Naoki let out a small chuckle as he was now in the kitchen. Hoping his roommate hasn't seen his laughing face, he tried regaining his straight face again. With an, "Ahem," he looked through the drawers to see where he placed the knives and forks he brought.

"Uh, I suck at cooking, but do you need any help or other?"

As the brunette found a good chef's knife, he looked back at the boy asking the question. "Sure, H-Hikaru...! Come here, I'll-- I'll teach you have to cut portions into a raw fish using this," he said while holding the back of the blade and pointed the handle towards Hikaru. "... I promise you'll leave the kitchen with knowledge of cutting fish," he added to let the knife seem less threatening.

Hikaru watched Naoki make his way into the kitchen, and stood up as soon as he heard the room mate begin to open the cabinets. Wow, I'm rather hopeless compared to him, Hikaru thought as he walked to where the other boy was.

Then, upon presenting a sharp chef's blade -it was supposed to be rather sharp right? Hikaru had never dealt with making his own food, or whatever-, Naoki spoke. "Sure, H-Hikaru...! Come here, I'll-- I'll teach you have to cut portions into a raw fish using this." Slowly, rather gingerly, Hikaru took hold of the knife's handle, hoping he didn't come off was cluless as he actually was. "Ah..." Hikaru held it in his hand and watched it reflect the glow of the ceiling lights. He hoped he'd make out of this unharmed.

"... I promise you'll leave the kitchen with knowledge of cutting fish." Hikaru smiled, and chuckled wordlessly, and looked around. "You have the fish, I take it? And we have a rice cooker, right?" He paused, realising his question was rather unnecessary.
