The angels from up above had sent an amazing gift to Kanata in the guise of a sweet talking devil. At least that's how it appeared to her. The sweet talking devil in question had just left her with a vanilla envelope carrying ¥15000 and the memory of his sly grin. He had come to her in her time of distress (having no money to spend in a place where that's all you do) in a white suit, swept her off her feet, and granted her wish with no questions or strings attached. None of this raised Kanata's suspicions and she just took it as a generous gift.

So now blessed with more spending money than she could ever dream of she set off towards the shops. Never before had she seen so many shops crammed into one place overflowing with people. Every store and sale caught Kanata's hazel eyes. Soon she had more bags filled with useless things and less money to spend on those useless things. But they did not seem useless to her at the time and probably never would.

She pursed her lips as she looked around. The many bags that hung around her arms were starting to dig into her skin from the weight they were carrying, but Kanata took no notice. Instead she was searching for the next store or sale that would catch her attention. The bright colours, loud music, and large print of the stores were all calling out to her and she didn't know which plea to answer first. Finally she decided to point and spin around and let fate take it from there.

Scratching his head lightly as he wandered the mall, Kakeru couldn’t help but dread at the reason of why he was here. He was looking for a Halloween costume, as sad as that sounded. Really, he was hoping to finally not partake in the event seeing as he was finally out of his sister’s dictating clutch, who always persuaded him to dress up for the holiday.

However, his older sister Hisa had sent him threats about coming to the school with an embarrassing Halloween costume for him if he didn’t find one himself and send her and his father a photo of it. And, the thought of his sister coming to Aozora just to give him a Halloween costume made the shy boy blush bright red as he slunk further into the scarf wrapped around his neck and the bottom half of his face. He really didn’t want that happening.

So that was why he was aimlessly wandering the mall, looking for a Halloween costume. However, Kakeru didn’t expect to come across a girl with many bags on her arms, spinning in a circle while pointing. At the sight of this, he was completely puzzled. Sure, he had seen plenty of odd people in the city. Some who threw knives at strangers, others who talked to themselves, but he had never seen a girl his age spin around with her eyes firmly shut and point with her index finger.

Deciding against his better judgment, Kakeru decided to approach the girl. He would have just left her alone if she didn’t look around his age. Though, the raven haired boy was extremely curious as to what she was doing. Gathering his courage, he stepped closer to the girl and stuttered softly. “Uhm… E-Excuse me? W-What e-exactly a-ar-are you doing?” Kakeru bit his lip as a dark blush swept across his cheeks. He was nervous for the girl’s reply, but he was intent on hearing what it was.

Kanata stopped in front of a boy who was staring at her with curious eyes. She opened her eyes when she heard his soft voice ask her what she was doing. Her eyes snapped open and she stared at the timid boy for a few seconds. Gently she poked him in between the eyes with her pointing finger before letting it rest at her side. A soft smile graced her lips as she answered him, "I'm trying to decide which store to go to next!"

"What are you doing?" she asked rather childishly. Kanata cocked her head to the side as she stared at him waiting for his reply. She shifted the weight of the numerous bags around to help relieve some of the stress on her arms that she was beginning to feel as she actually stopped moving for more than five seconds.

Kakeru was surprised that after the girl opened her eyes at glanced at him, she poked him gently between the eyes. He really hadn’t expected the girl to do that, which is why he simply continued to stare at the girl. Silently shocked at the fact that she had poked him between the eyes. The stranger smiled softly at him as she explained to the still shocked Kakeru that she was trying to decide which store she was going to next. "What are you doing?" the girl asked Kakeru childishly, as he continued to watch her still slightly shocked.

An incredibly dark blush graced his cheeks as it dawned on Kakeru that the girl had asked him a question. Specifically one involving why he was here, at the mall. Remembering his sister’s threat he shrunk further down into the scarf wrapped his neck. Turning his head to the left, cheeks still bright red, he mumbled a shy reply to the girl. “O-Oh… I-I’m j-j-just her-here… l-looking f-for a Halloween c-costume.”

There was a moment's pause as the boy stared at Kanata. Then he tried to shrink back into his scarf as his blush deepened. He reminded Kanata of a turtle. She saw his mouth move, but it was hard to hear, due to him mumbling into his scarf while his face was turned away. Halloween.That was the word that she thought she heard.

"Halloween? Ah, that is coming up, isn't it?" she said with bubbling excitement. Kanata put a finger to her chin while in thought, tapping it lightly, a habit she had formed years ago. "Gee, I guess I better get a costume! Is that why you're here? For a costume? Oooh, what are you going to be?" She turned her hazel eyes back onto him, hardly able to contain the new excitement.

"Halloween? Ah, that is coming up, isn't it?"

The young teenage girl put a finger on her chin and repeatedly tapped it, as Kakeru guessed she was probably thinking about the holiday he personally dreaded. "Gee, I guess I better get a costume! Is that why you're here? For a costume? Oooh, what are you going to be?" Kakeru once again stared in shock at how quickly the girl was able to change topics. Never had he talked to someone who seemed so bubbly and cheerful. In a way, he was glad to have approached her.

Scratching his head as the girl’s attention focused back on to him, he wracked his brain for an answer. Kakeru really hadn’t thought about what he was going to dress up as. Really, he had just walked out of his dorm with his wallet, bent on finding a decent costume and not a completely embarrassing one that he knew his sister would probably give him. The boy hadn’t put much thought into what he wanted to be, though.

Kakeru glanced back at the stranger and felt completely flustered because she was staring at him intently. Nervously, he replied while glancing away. “T-That is why I-I’m here… T-Though, I-I’m not sure wh-what I’m goi-going to b-be.” His emerald eyes focused back on the bubbly girl in front of him, waiting nervously for her reply.

"Lucky~! We can shop for costumes together! It'll be great!"

Kanata grabbed the nervous looking boy by the arm and dragged him off to the nearest direction. Her bags bounced along with her as she spoke her thoughts out loud. "Oh what should I be, what should I be? Ah! What about a...vampire!" She brought her hands up to her face and they formed into fangs. Kanata tried to make a fierce looking face, but it came out more strange looking than anything else. She put her hands back to her sides and spun around as she walked along with the boy. "Hmm, what about a witch? Or a powerful queen! Oh, a zombie!" she yelled out. Then she stopped and looked around her.

"Hey...are we going the right way to the store?"

When the girl grabbed his arm and started to drag him off to some store, all Kakeru could do was stare, shocked completely. Here he was with a girl he didn't even know, about to go costume shopping. In a odd way, the girl reminded Kakeru of a certain sister of his. Happy and completely bubbly.

"Oh what should I be, what should I be? Ah! What about a...vampire!" Kakeru watched as the girl brought her hands up to her face, attempting to make fangs. After she seemed to realize that, that idea wouldn't be so great, she let her arms rest at her sides. She spun around happily, with Kakeru still willingly following her. Kakeru's reason for sticking with the odd girl was simple. She really did remind him of his sister, and he would much rather go costume shopping with someone else instead of alone. "Hmm, what about a witch? Or a powerful queen! Oh, a zombie!" Kakeru smiled as a light blush tinted his cheeks. This girl was just so... bubbly.

When the girl abruptly stopped, Kakeru raised an eyebrow at what she was doing. His question was answered however, when the stranger spoke up. "Hey...are we going the right way to the store?" Glancing around himself, a dark blush rose to Kakeru's cheeks when he realized he had no idea where he and his companion were.

"I... I d-don't know," the raven mumbled truthfully. He felt his stomach churn, and was completely uncomfortable now. Taking another glance around him, Kakeru spotted a store with it’s windows filled to the brim with things revolving around Halloween. Without realizing what he was doing, Kakeru grabbed the girl’s arm and started to pull her towards the store. In less than several minutes, Kakeru and the girl were standing in front of the Halloween store.

Huffing, Kanata placed her hands on her hips and tried to get a sense of where they were and where a Halloween shop might be. But before she could fully look around there was a pull on her arm. Taken by surprised Kanata almost tripped on her own feet as the shy boy tugged her along. She lagged behind as she stared at the same boy who had been mumbling into his scarf and avoiding her eyes a few moments ago taking hold of her arm and dragging her off with more energy than she would have thought he had.

After a few seconds though Kanata smiled at the nice surprise and picked up her pace to keep up with him. They soon stopped in front of a store that was spilling over with Halloween. She gave a low whistle as she looked the store up and down in awe. "Well let's go!" she said eagerly. Without waiting for a response Kanata already rocketed off into the store looking at all the costumes and masks in delight.
