He watched Mayumi over his shoulder, as she sat down on the low stage that the piano was on, and he carefully observed how she tossed him a half-shrug. "If you don't believe you're already there, then it'll only take a little practice." Mayumi stated flatly. Kakeru remained silent and took in the advice. She was right. The only way he could get better was with practice.
Kakeru watched as Mayumi turned her head to look at him "You're really good as you are," she told him, and Kakeru could tell she meant those words. Without a doubt, Kakeru felt his face heat up drastically from the compliment. Immediately, he avoided her gaze and turned his head to the side so she couldn't see his face. With his face still beat red from embarrassment, Kakeru let the small genuine smile come across his face as it was no longer in view of Mayumi.
"Thank you," he spoke softly, the blush still radiating from his cheeks. Kakeru truthfully did enjoy Mayumi's company. He enjoyed being in the older girl's presence. In a way, she was comforting. Kakeru hoped deep down inside, that Mayumi and him could be great friends, and what ever happened here wasn't just a one time thing.

Mayumi didn't know why he was thanking her, really - be it for the compliment or the bit about practice. Either way, she noted that he hadn't stumbled over his words that time. She wanted him to eventually be comfortable around her, and it seemed like that was a step in the right direction.
But, honestly, Mayumi wanted to hear him sing, as well. A boy with that kind of musical talent couldn't an actor or a dancer - Kakeru had to be a singer. Mayumi could tell.
Long moments of silence passed as Mayumi considered her next move. She watched the boy on the bench from the corner of her eye, hoping he would say or do something else. He sat still instead.
"If you want," Mayumi said almost as quietly as his 'thank you,' "I could help you out a bit." Those words lingered for a second before Mayumi tacked on more to the offer. "With the piano practice, I mean."
She was flustered. What was happening?! Mayumi was only ever flustered around her family. Somewhere in the back of her mind, she seemed to realize that he time with Kakeru in the music hall was rolling slowly to an end. She didn't like that feeling.

After he spoke, all that filled the music room was complete silence. it wasn't awkward, like most silences were, in a way it was just a fitting silence. One that felt right, instead of thick with tension or completely awkward.
Kakeru didn't shift around uncomfortably like he usually would. Instead, he opted to simply staying still. It was nice, for once, to finally feel relaxed with someone either than his older sister or father. Even than those two were able to put the boy on edge and cause him to squirm worse than anyone else he knew.
"If you want," Mayumi said, shattering the silence. She hadn't spoken in her usual tone though, catching Kakeru off guard and causing him to turn his head to look at her. She seemed to have spoken almost as quietly as he had done when thanking her. "I could help you out a bit." A few seconds later, Mayumi tagged on more to her offer. "With the piano practice, I mean."
Kakeru let the shock filter across his face, before a heavy blushed wiped the shock clean off. He dropped his gaze from her down to the floor, as he tentatively bit his lip. Lifting his head up so his gaze met Mayumi's for a few seconds, he turned his head to the left and nodded. "I would re-really appreciate y-you h-he-helping me," Kakeru whispered. Not only would he get better at the piano if Mayumi helped him, but that would mean he was guaranteed to see Mayumi. Even if it was just in piano lessons, the boy didn't mind. The girl in front of him was starting to become his friend, and he didn't want to lose that.

The two locked eyes for a brief, quiet moment before Kakeru looked away again, blushing heavily. Mayumi watched cautiously as he turned his head, nodding to the left. She smiled a bit again as he responded in a soft whisper.
"I would re-really appreciate y-you h-he-helping me," he told her.
Mayumi's small smile widened a bit. He'd agreed. She was more than a little glad that he had, because she definitely didn't want this short encounter to be their last. If she were lucky, Mayumi and Kakeru could bond over piano practice, and, eventually evolve into better friends because of that.
She didn't know where it could lead - Mayumi could mess things up royally, or she could pick up the pieces of her broken personality and continue to be nice to the boy.
"When are you free?" she asked him, tapping her feet lightly on the floor. "We could schedule some practices ahead of time..." Mayumi trailed off, hoping the boy would agree again.
But, it being the first real day of classes at Aozora, she would understand if he really didn't have any free time. She'd be disappointed to some degree, but she'd understand.

"When are you free?" Mayumi asked Kakeru swiftly after he answered, he heard her lightly tap her feet on the floor. "We could schedule some practices ahead of time..."
Kakeru noted that Mayumi seemed to trail off, after having said that. Lightly biting his lip, the boy tried to think of the next time he would be free for her piano lesson. Considering Kakeru had always done well in school without having to study too hard, he didn't have to put much time into studying for any class. Leaving him plenty of time to go and slink around and do what ever he pleased.
The boy nervously run his hand through his hair as he decided on his answer. "Ho-How about... t-tomorrow around 5 o'clock?" He meekly whispered, and turned his head back to Mayumi to watch her reaction. Feeling completely flustered with his answer though, Kakeru couldn't help but cut in quickly before the girl replied. Tagging on more to the preposition.
"But I-If i-it doesn't work f-for you... We can r-really do it w-when ever you h-have time," he mumbled nervously. Kakeru really did want the piano lessons, so he could spend more time with Mayumi. If one time didn't work for her, he would gladly be willing to manipulate his schedule so he could see her. Kakeru couldn't help but admit that he really did like the girl's company.

"Ho-How about... t-tomorrow around 5 o'clock?" Kakeru replied after thinking for a short moment. He paused, then quickly added more to his statement. "But I-If i-it doesn't work f-for you... We can r-really do it w-when ever you h-have time,"
She felt her smile reach her eyes while the boy spoke. It was nice to know that Kakeru wanted to see her again, too. Mayumi was finally making a friend, and that meant the world to her.
Turning completely around where she was sitting and folding her legs underneath her in a very unladylike manner. She didn't care though - he couldn't see up her skirt, that was all that really mattered. Mayumi wanted to face him.
"Tomorrow at five works," she told him, cocking her head to the side. "I'm pretty sure my roommate's getting annoyed with me, so it really shouldn't be a problem for me to leave then." she chuckled a little bit.
Mayumi was quite happy that Kakeru had agreed. She really didn't know what she could teach him, but she'd try nonetheless. Mayumi would more than likely spend the night looking over her sheet music, trying to find something to play or teach him.
"What do you want to practice?" Mayumi asked him, fiddling with the hem of her skirt.

Kakeru watched carefully as Mayumi turned herself completely around so they were face to face. He was slightly surprised as she switched the way she sat, now having her legs tucked underneath her. Kakeru guessed that Mayumi honestly didn't care if it looked odd, just as long as no one could see up her skirt. He almost wanted to smile at the sight, but instead let his face flush a light pink.
"Tomorrow at five works," Mayumi told him, and he watched with amusement as she cocked her head slightly to the side. "I'm pretty sure my roommate's getting annoyed with me, so it really shouldn't be a problem for me to leave then." Kakeru heard her chuckle and he had to stop himself from chuckling along with her. He couldn't help but feel very secure around Mayumi. She had been nice to him, from the beginning. Even after she found him creeping up on her so he could listen to her play the piano.
In the end, Kakeru couldn't wait for his lesson tomorrow. He was glad just at the thought of Mayumi and him possibly bonding over the piano lessons. That meant that Mayumi and him could possibly become true friends.
"What do you want to practice?" he heard Mayumi ask him, as he watched her fiddle with the hem of her skirt. Kakeru unconsciously brought a hand up to scratch his head as he thought. After realizing what he did, he flushed bright red and diverted his eyes to the ground.
"I... I do-don't know... It r-really doesn't ma-matter," he softly answered. Kakeru returned his eyes onto the girl siting in front of him. Hopefully, Mayumi had a suggestion on what he could practice.

He brought his hand up to scratch his head, seemingly in thought. It looked as if he had't known what he was doing and, upon realizing what he was doing, Kakeru dropped his hand and gaze, blushing again.
"I... I do-don't know... It r-really doesn't ma-matter," he said.
Mayumi was stumped. The only music she had brought to Aozora with her was what she had written herself on her piano at home. Mayumi had never show anyone that. Her sister had seen bits and pieces when Mayumi wasn't paying attention, though, but that was it.
Hell, she hadn't even played her own music at the Aozora auditions!
Letting a soft sigh slip out of her mouth, she looked down to the legs of the piano, wondering if she could bring her music to the practice session and not feel completely embarassed. Maybe she could borrow something from the library?
Mayumi would have to try that tomorrow morning.
When she looked back up, Kakeru was looking at her directly. Her eyes widened slightly and her cheeks heated up. It was such a weird reaction for her to have. Mayumi had blushed more in the short time they had spent together than she had in her entire life.
Knock it off, you idiot, she scolded herself. Now is not the time!
Mayumi cleared her throat as quietly as she possibly could. "Alright," she spoke finally. "I'll bring whatever I can find." Then, scrambling for something else to add. "I've still barely unpacked, so I might just snag something from the library, if that's alright."

Of course being the boy he was, Kakeru stared intently at Mayumi as she seemed to think over his answer. It seemed to him the the girl was completely clueless as what to bring for the practice session, since he hadn't offered up anything. Kakeru felt slightly bad for putting Mayumi in that position, but when he heard her sigh out loud he felt incredibly worse.
He was about to tell her that he could go to the library and find something, when Mayumi looked up at him meeting his gaze. He was caught off guard when it wasn't him who had flushed red, it was her.
She's actually... kind of cute when she blushes... Stopping momentarily at that thought, the young teenage boy mentally hit his head against the wall. Kakeru knew he was easily flustered and embarrassed, which he was perfectly fine and use too. But the thought of liking someone romantically, either boy or girl, made his heart stop dead in his tracks. He knew he would be screwed if he ended up liking someone, because although he was shy, timid, easily flustered, and clumsy often now, whenever he liked someone it was worse. Incredibly worse.[/i]
"Alright," a voice spoke finally, bringing Kakeru out of his thoughts. "I'll bring whatever I can find." When he realized it was Mayumi replying to him, Kakeru almost blushed at his earlier thoughts. He was about to say thank you, when the girl added more on to what she had said. "I've still barely unpacked, so I might just snag something from the library, if that's alright."
Reminding him of his earlier thoughts about offering to go to the library to find something, the boy just simply nodded and avoided eye contact as he decided to reply verbally. "T-That's p-perfectly f-fine with m-me," he meekly mumbled. "I-If y-you're al-alright with going, t-that is."
Feeling his face flush once again, Kakeru let his eyes wander back to Mayumi. He remembered his thoughts from earlier, and couldn't stop the flush that turned his face bright cherry red.

"T-That's p-perfectly f-fine with m-me," he mumbled. "I-If y-you're al-alright with going, t-that is."
He blushed once more, a deep red color that Mayumi hadn't seen before. She didn't know if the color even had a name! Then, realizing her thoughts, she folded her lips to keep from laughing a bit.
The lyrics of the song she had been singing wove their way back into her head. The red isn't the red we painted. Every time Kakeru blushed, from then on, it would remind her of that song. Mayumi liked that - it was a good song, albeit a song mostly about love.
Mayumi felt that it was weird to like being in the presence of the younger boy so much already. She had gone seventeen years without enjoying being around other people. Was this the feeling she had been missing? The warm, grounded, nice feeling that she had at that moment.
She hummed a bit, watching the boy look away from her again.
"I'm fine with going." Mayumi said, still relishing the warmth. "I haven't been there yet."
Out of all of the places on campus she had visited, though - and the ones she still needed to visit - Mayumi had a feeling the music room would always be her favorite.

Kakeru heard Mayumi hum before she replied. "I'm fine with going." Mayumi told Kakeru. "I haven't been there yet." He nodded as a reply, not trusting his voice, and they sat in the music room silently. Kakeru tilted his head backwards to look up at the ceiling. A feeling of absolute content washed over him, and he smiled lightly.
Today he had met a girl who mas majoring in the same subject as he was. She was an incredible musician, who had an incredible voice. And now, she was going to give him piano lessons. The boy's smile grew significantly until he heard his watch beep, causing him to jump slightly.
Looking down at the watch, he realized why it beeped. The time said 11:55, which meant he had five minutes to get to his next class. Said class just so happened to be across the entire campus.
Jumping up from the piano bench, Kakeru bowed to Mayumi. "I-I'm so-sorry, b-but my ne-next class st-starts in five m-minutes," he mumbled softly, staring at his feet. He looked back up, and his eyes met Mayumi's.
(OOC: I'm running out of subjects to write about in this thread. Ehe, sorry. So, if you're fine with it, could we end this thread?)

A beep startled the both of them. Kakeru looked at his watch then jumped quickly from the piano bench and bowed at the girl sitting on the floor. "I-I'm so-sorry, b-but my ne-next class st-starts in five m-minutes,"
Their eyes met briefly, before Mayumi herself was scrambling up from the ground. She bent down quickly, fishing around in her sock for her phone. Mayumi righted herself, checking the time on her own gadget.
"Damnit," she cursed, returning her phone to its spot. "I'm late already."
Mayumi took off toward the door, watching the boy's eyes widen a bit. She waved over her shoulder before she completely disappeared out of the doorway, calling a "see you tomorrow!" behind her.
She hated to leave him standing there alone, but Mayumi was sure he'd leave just as soon.
(OOC: Hope you're alright with the semi-rushed ending! RPing with you is a lot of fun)
END.
