Character(s): Yousuke Kiyama and anyone else Time: 10PM Location: Outside of a bar OOC: I'm just rating this PG-13 because I don't think drunks are in PG idk it was just safer that way forgive me.
"I'm not drunk!"
Yousuke's voice was loud, uneven, and whiny. His sports headband was around his neck and he had run his hand through his hair so many times that night that it now looked like a messy brown clump.
The 23-year-old man stumbled in the sidewalk, vision blurring more and more by the second and thoughts getting foggier. He only had a beer... or two, or was it three? Anyways, Yousuke Kiyama was most definitely drunk, he just didn't want to admit it.
"I'm not drunk!" he screamed at the telephone pole, "Don't look at me that way! Why don't you believe me?!" he whined, and continued to stagger down the sidewalk until he reached a wall of a restaurant to lean on. He hadn't gone that far from the bar -- only about several hundred feet -- but Yousuke felt as if he had just run several hundred miles.
"God, I feel WONDERFUL!" he shouted, spreading his arms out and momentarily losing his balance. "I'm the best teacher ever, you all hear me?!" he screamed at the few people walking by, "I'll go down in Aozora's history!" he gave a mighty fist shake which turned out to be a spasmodic flail of his right arm.
"I loooove my life." he drawled, turning around so that he was now facing the wall. He stayed silent for a few moments until he murmured again (apparently talking to the wall he was almost kissing), "By the way, I'm not drunk."

Mayumi clutched her sweater tighter around her body as she walked do the street. It was getting chilly outside again, and she was beginning to believe that she should have taken a taxi back to the dorms.
She had been out to dinner with her brother just down the street from where she was walking now, and the streets were nearly empty. It wasn't very late, but it was the middle of the week. Mayumi really hadn't expected to run in to anyone from school, but, when she heard a semi-familiar voice shouting just a few buildings down the road, she realized what she hadn't expected had come true.
"I'm not drunk! Don't look at me that way! Why don't you believe me?!"
Pushing her way through the small crowd outside of the bar, Mayumi was brought almost face-to-face with Kiyama-sensei shouting at a telephone pole
"I loooove my life!" he said before turning to face a wall. Actually, turning to stand against the wall, bracing himself with his forehead.
"Ki... Kiyama-sensei?" Mayumi said, trying to get a clear look at the man's face, making sure it really was him. "Are you alright?"

"Ki-Kiyama-sensei?! Are you alright?"
The man looked up from whatever he was looking at (he wasn't quite sure, it may had been his feet or the dark sky above, he really couldn't tell the difference anymore) and turned to Mayumi. He blinked his eyes a few times, but no matter what he did his vision wasn't getting any clearer.
"I'M FINE!" he bellowed loudly, "THANKS FOR ASKING!" he added, and then hobbled towards her. "D'you think I'm drunk!?" he asked, quieter this time. His words were slightly slurred, but they were still reasonably coherent.
"Well, I'm not drunk!" Yousuke said without waiting for the girl to speak, "I don't have one DROP of alcohol in me! Nope! 'Cause alcohol's bad for you, kids! Didn't ya learn that in Health class? Alcohol can lead to soooo many bad things! So I don't do it! 'Cause I'm a good role model!"
He stumbled closer to Mayumi until he was only about a foot in front of her. He stared down at her, eyes squinting as he tried to get a good look at her. "Hiiiii," he giggled, "Whatsyoname? I'm Yo-yo-yo....yo-somethin'. Nice ta meet you." He giggled some more.

The older man whirled around, wobbling slightly on his feet. He shouted, "I'M FINE! THANKS FOR ASKING!" But his words were slurred slightly. He moved toward her slowly, nearly tripping over his own feet once.
Despite what he said, Mayumi knew that he had been drinking. At least a little bit.
"D'you think I'm drunk!?" he asked quietly, not giving Mayumi a chance to answer before continuing to speak. "Well, I'm not drunk!"
Mayumi had been around her brother on an off-night such as this one, she knew how to speak to them, and she usually treated them like misbehaving children. But she could tell that the reason Kiyama-sensei had been drinking was something different than "just for fun."
She didn't realize it, but Kiyama-sensei had stumbled a bit closer to her while she tried to decide how to resolve this situation. Her eyes widened at his proximity.
"Hiiiii," he giggled, his cheeks turning a light shade of pink in his inebriated state, "Whatsyoname? I'm Yo-yo-yo....yo-somethin'. Nice ta meet you."
"You're Yousuke Kiyama," Mayumi told him, using the tone she used when talking to children at the temple. "And I'm Mayumi Yoshida."
She placed a hand on his arm, tugging slightly in the direction of the campus. He resisted her gentle nudging, however, and remained on the sidewalk.

Yousuke had gone to the bar to meet up with several of his old high school friends, but he had been so late that by the time he got there all of his friends were already either passed out or trying to drag the drunk ones into a taxi. A woman that Yousuke had never seen before had somehow convinced him into drinking, and here the teacher was now. It had only happened less than an hour ago, but Yousuke already forgot what the woman had done to him. She was definitely the one who had pulled down his sports headband though, and if he was sober he would have been able to feel the imprint of fingernails against his neck.
"I'm Yousuke Kiyama?" he asked, frowning a bit. His face were reddening more and more, and he rubbed at the back of his neck. "And you're Mayumi Yoshida?" he asked, still rather uncertainly. Nothing made sense to the man at the moment, so he just stood there in a drunken stupor, trying to make sense of things.
When the girl tried to tug him away, Yousuke suddenly lurched his arm back violently. "I don't need to go anywhere yet!" he yelled, "I'm perfectly fine, sheesh! A-and you're a s-student aren't ya? Well if you di-disobey me, I can give you a detendshun! Yes, a detendshun!"
Yousuke suddenly twirled around and faced the street. "I'M GIVIN' THIS YOUNG LADY A DETENDSHUN!" he screamed as he flailed his arms around wildly, stumbling backwards while doing so. He knocked over a trash can during the process, and Yousuke jumped half a foot in surprise from the loud noise.
"Hoooo dropped dat?!" he demanded, his voice slurring even more. "I'mma give them a detendshun too!"

Mayumi could see the gears turning in his mind after she told him his name. It was a bit funny. She hadn't seen someone nearly as drunk as Kiyama-sensei was now in quite a long time.
But, when she tried to guide him in the direction of the campus, he jerked his arm away, shouting again.
"I'm perfectly fine, sheesh! A-and you're a s-student aren't ya? Well if you di-disobey me, I can give you a detendshun! Yes, a detendshun!"
Mayumi knew that he couldn't actually giver her detention for attempting to get him home safely, but, nonetheless, she stopped what she was doing. Depending on how drunk he actually was, Kiyama-sensei - maybe she could refer to him as "Yousuke" now that she'd seen this side of him - may or may not remember what she did and said. If she angered him, Mayumi didn't know if it was above him to take his frustration out on her later and really give her detention for something meaningless on campus.
"I'M GIVIN' THIS YOUNG LADY A DETENDSHUN!" He shouted again, spinning around and knocking over a trashcan in the process.
He had said that he wasn't going to go anywhere yet, and Mayumi really didn't have anywhere important to be. She turned to lean against the telephone Yousuke had shouted at earlier.
"Alright," she said, "Then tell me why you're out here shouting in the street in the middle of the night."

Yousuke paused and looked at Mayumi, a look of worry coming across his face. Why isn't she scared that I might give her a detendshun?! he asked himself. Even Yousuke's own thoughts were becoming unclearer and fuzzier. Jesus christ, he really was deeply affected by the alcohol. He didn't know howmany he drank, but he either must have drank a lot of just had a bit of a weak tolerance.
Yousuke continued to watch in silence (except for a few hiccups that managed to escape his mouth) as Mayumi leaned against the telephone pole. Wait, that's my telephone pole! Yousuke thought, and the man leapt towards the girl. "Dat's my pole!" he pouted childishly, "Don't touch it!" he whined, "I said I could give you a detendshun!"
However, Yousuke shut up when Mayumi asked him a question. The man scratched at his head as he tried to articulate the words to answer. "I'm...I'm here..." he began, blinking a few times. "...I'm here 'cause I...I'm not drunk." he said, the childish pout growing more pronounced. Yousuke Kiyama would absolutely never, ever admit that he was taken by alcohol's influence. Ever.

She had no idea he would he would be mad about her leaning against the pole, but the mind of an alcohol-influenced man was a very strange place. She chuckled a bit when he mentioned "detendshun" again.
Mayumi watched as the expression in his eyes changed, and he reached up to paw at his hair."I'm...I'm here..." he began, blinking at the stone sidewalk. "...I'm here 'cause I...I'm not drunk."
Chuckling again, Mayumi closed her eyes and smirked at her feet. "That's a good start," Mayumi told the man, bringing her gaze back to Yousuke's. He looked a bit sullen all of a sudden.
It didn't seem like he was drinking from being upset, but Mayumi really couldn't tell. She didn't know him well enough to assume that on what she was seeing alone.
She tried again, gentler this time, "Why don't you want to leave yet?"

Yousuke didn't like being drunk. He hated it, but he loved it at the same time. Alcohol was a way to loosen up a bit (even if Yousuke was the type of person who actually needed to become a bit stricter), and when he was with friends he found it amazingly fun. But it made him vulnerable, and exposed, and he absolutely hated that. The last thing he needed was to do something stupid and have everyone witness it. He didn't want to bring trouble to society - that was one thing he always knew.
"...I...I donut want to leeb because..." Yousuke frowned, having trouble thinking again. "I...I donut want to leeb because it's pun being out here." he said after a few moments of struggling. "And if I go home, then I would have to sleep. Dats boring." he finished, satisfied with his explanation. He looked at Mayumi eagerly, like a puppy expecting praise for doing something good. As the seconds went past, the image of Mayumi changed from a student who deserved a detention to someone who would babysit him until his mind cleared up again.

The wind was picking up, blowing Mayumi's long hair around her head, and it was getting colder out on the street. Mid-September weather had never been very kind to Mayumi, and she didn't know how much longer she could stand out there with Yousuke.
He racked his brain for a moment, finally answering with, "...I...I donut want to leeb because..." Yousuke frowned, "I...I donut want to leeb because it's pun being out here."
Fun? Mayumi really didn't get it.
Yousuke gave her a look like he had been waiting for her for a long time, and, somehow, was still waiting for her. Mayumi squirmed a bit under his gaze. She wasn't accustomed to someone staring at her for so long.
Looking away from him, Mayumi quickly changed the subject. "If you don't want to leave, why not go back inside, order a cup of coffee and sober up a bit?"
Mayumi didn't expect him to agree to that, but it was worth a shot.

(OOC: maybe I can end the thread after you post one more time after this? :3)
Yousuke suddenly turned away from Mayumi after realizing that he wasn't going to get anymore attention from her. Although the weather was cold, the alcohol had made Yousuke feel considerably warmer. The man stumbled around in a circle for a moment before he abruptly stopped. He stood there for a good half a minute, until his mouth finally broke out into a wide yawn.
He was tired, but he didn't want to admit it. When Yousuke Kiyama was drunk, he had pride. He had fierce pride.
"Order a cup of coppee?" he repeated what Mayumi said, his voice still slurred, "...That sounds nice." he added a bit dreamily. The man stood there for a moment, deep in thought about what decision to make. Being drunk, his "deep in thought" wasn't that deep at all. He scratched at his head and whirled around so that he was facing Mayumi again.
"Can you take me home? Back to the academy." he asked, "Please?"

(OOC: Sure, that's fine with me.)
"Can you take me home? Back to the academy." he asked, "Please?"
Mayumi sighed contentedly - she had been waiting for that. And, thankfully, she hadn't had to wait very long. She placed a hand on his arm again, and, this time, he didn't jerk away.
"Sure," she told him, pulling him in the direction she was heading in originally. "Let's go."

Yousuke allowed the girl to take him to the academy. He had a nagging thought at the back of his mind that told him that he would most likely regret getting drunk that night for a very long time, but he pushed it away. The man was tired, and he needed a good long sleep to sober him up.
He flailed his right arm in an attempt to wave goodbye to the girl. "Sank yoooou." he drawled, and stumbled towards the staff dorm. God, the next morning would most definitely be a long one. And if that girl was in his P.E. class -- which she most likely would, as he was currently the only physical education teacher at the school -- then it would definitely be awkward. But then again, that was the future. To the drunk Yousuke, all that mattered to him at the moment was finding his way to the dorm without tripping.
END.
