Rylen decided that he would take a stroll toward the courtyard, he had never been there before and since he was done for the day decided to get to know the place. He took the more scenic path past the trees toward the open area. He took a deep and surveyed the area.

"Hmm its pretty big maybe I can jam here one day with my friend I guess." He said to him in a low voice when he suddenly heard a voice singing singing along the side lines. "Oh! Somebody to sing with." He ran toward where he heard the voice his guitar strapped to his back. He stopped when he saw a girl probably 15 or 16 singing to herself alone on the bench.

"Oh uhm.....hello! I'm Rylen Fubuki Third Year." he said bending forward.

After leaving her things in her assigned dorm room, Yumiko quickly made her way outside to the field. She had felt the need to postpone any introductions until later, after she had familiarized herself with her soon-to-be regular hang out area.

She had found a bench and decided to relax and listen to music, absentmindedly letting herself sing along. This is nice, she thought. Maybe I'll like it here.

An unfamiliar voice interrupted her thoughts, causing her to glare at the stranger who had deciding to intrude.

"Hello," she said cautiously. "Yumiko Kameshiro, second year. Nice to meet you." Automatically, she held out her hand to him. He seems.. alright. She would never have admitted it, but it was nice to be around someone who seemed so happy.

He took his hand out and held onto hers, "Pleasure, Yumiko" he smiled at her then let go of her hand. "So uh what song was that you were singing?"

He always loved hearing and singing with people, it always uplifted him and he hoped today wouldn't change.

[megan]

Yumiko's eyes shifted, slightly embarrassed. Nobody ever really cared for what she was doing, let alone whatever song she was listening or singing along to.

"Err.. Awake My Soul by Mumford and Sons," she replied. She tilted her head to the side a bit, inspecting him. "Have you heard of it?" Probably not, she thought. I think the majority of people here wouldn't be into folk-like music like that.

He smiles slightly at her and pull up his guitar beginning with a few chords,

"How fickle my hearts and how I woozy my eyes.." He paused a bit while playing looking at the girl "I struggle to find any truth in your lies."

Rylen sat next to her still strumming "C'mon join me. And now my heart stumbles...."

Yumiko's eyes widened, surprised at his knowledge of the song. He wants me to sing with him. She shook herself, not wanting to keep him waiting.

"..On things I don't know, my weakness I feel I must finally show." She sang quietly, a bit nervous. Snap out of it, she thought. You love to sing. What've you got to lose?

She cleared her throat and continued, adding more volume to her voice, singing with her whole heart. "Lend me your hand and we'll conquer them all, But lend me your heart and I'll just let you fall."

Yumiko glanced at Rylen, watching as his eyes met hers. She gave a small smile. He isn't that bad after all.

He returned the smile and the continued singing, Rylen scooting closer to her as they sang. When they finally finished Rylen turned his body towards her.

"You know, your voice is very nice. I really hope you and I can do this more." Rylen sets his guitar down on the table and pulls out a harmonica from his pocket. "Hey listen to this, see if you know what it is." He blows on it and begins to play the beginning to Toast by J ft Humming Urban Stereo.

She had noticed that Rylen had moved a bit closer to her, but made no comment on it. Yumiko wasn't used to the closeness, but it didn't seem to bother her. She smiled to herself, feeling a bit confident. This is a first.

"Thanks," she said. "You have a nice voice yourself, Rylen." Her eyes widened as she watched him pull a harmonica out and begin to play it. Yumiko bit her lip, trying to lay a finger on the tune.

"I.. I don't know what this is," she admitted. "It sounds interesting, though." She tapped her foot to his playing, a small smile playing at her lips. "Yeah, I like this, Rylen. It's a nice song."

He noticed her biting her lips Oh my she is a cute one....I wonder if I should ask her out. "Hey so what major are you? I'm a singer myself." He said his voice filled with confidence. "Maybe we can go jam out or something."

[megan]

A singer, huh? "I'm a vocal major as well, but.. I guess you could have already figured that out." She could feel him watching her, making her feel more cautious. Yumiko didn't want to get close to someone so fast, whether they seemed nice or not.

Despite her brain's decision, her heart told her otherwise. "Yes, we should," she agreed. Damnit, she thought. So much for not getting close. I took the bait. Fuck.

"I.. uh.." she stuttered, unsure of what to say to fill the silence. "Er.. how's your day been?" she asked dumbly. I look like a complete idiot.

He again gave her a quick smile dammit why is she making me smile so much? "Oh perfect! If I can get your number maybe I can call you and plan.....s-stuff."

Nice wording Rylen!

"Oh uhm......Its been great and such I think..." He rubbed the side of his head and blushed "I mean like nothing bad happened but nothing wonderfull either." He gave a slight laugh before realizing what he said. "I MEAN I M-MEAN OK UNTIL I MET YOU."

Why are you yelling dumbass?!

"So uh....how about you?"

Her guard went up as her eyes turned to slits, carefully assessing him. He wants my number? Yumiko seldom kept contact with people, let alone went as far as giving them her number, but what was the harm? Rylen seemed nice enough, but then again, Yumiko has been known for being easily swayed. Hence why I get hurt so much.. She quickly took out a pen from her pocket and scribbled her number down on the back of his hand.

The sudden change in volume in his response scared the crap out of Yumiko, causing her to cuss under her breath. Fucking idiot, she thought. She let out a sigh, running a hand through her hair. "Is that so? Well then.. That's good to hear."

"My day," she began, going over the day's events in her head. "My day has been swell.. nothing too important or interesting, but it hasn't been overly terrible." I actually made a friend, or at least an acquaintance, she thought, but left those words unsaid. "It's been.. an alright day."

He held out his hand as she wrote on it, when she was done he looked at the back of his hand "I'll be sure to remember it."

He then saw her talking to herself and could vaguely hear what she say Did she call me an idiot?

"Oh mybe we do something interesting then! Maybe a movie or something. Heard the robot was good. "

[megan]

The thought of going out for a movie wasn't as appealing to Yumiko as one would think, but nonetheless she was up for interaction with her fellow schoolmates. This way I'll have at least some friends. But who was she kidding. She hadn't had a real friendship in years. Any friends she had made in her past were long gone.

She plastered on a smile and turned to Rylen, watching him closely. "I don't know what that is exactly, but it sounds fun," she said, dumbly. I sound like a fucking moron, she thought.

Yumiko hated making herself seem stupider than she actually was, but sometimes she would act on impulse instead of think over what she planned on doing or saying.

"Well then I guess I'll see you soon, but for now I have to run!" He gives her a quick smile, picked up his guitar, and ran off giving her a small wave.
