Character(s): Saku Hikage, Yumiko Kameshiro Time: 7:00 PM Location: Dorm 20C
"Damn," Yumiko sighed as she stepped into the dorm room. "It's been a long day." She hadn't realized that she was alone in the room until the sound of her voice was all she heard. Huh, she thought. You'd think my roommate would be in here by now.
She plopped onto the bottom bunk which held her own pillows and bags. Exhausted, she let her eyes shut as she ran over the day's events in her head. I've met more people today than I would have expected, she observed. Only because I'm an unsocial bitch most of the time.
Yumiko's ears picked up the sound of the doorknob being turned, causing her eyes to fly open and glare at the direction of the door. It's probably my roommate. She sat up, in attempts to make a proper impression on her roommate, when she hit her head on the top bunk. "Damn it," she hissed, a hand flying up to her forehead. She glanced back over to the door, watching as it opened.

Saku walked around the halls, trying to remember where her room was and who she was rooming with. She took out a small piece of paper where she scribbled where which room was. "20C." Just her luck, Saku was already standing in front of 20C's door. She smiled at her discovery, but it faded to a slight frown as she forgot who she was rooming with. "I should've paid more attention," she sighed. With a bit of confidence Saku placed her hand on the doorknob and opened the door. As she walked in, she saw a girl hit her head on the top bunk, followed by a slap to her forehead. She dropped her backpack and stood there for a second to see if the other was going to do something about her potential injury. "O-oh my! Are you okay?" Saku practically almost ran to her roommate. She was in a way that she was kneeling in front of the girl. She eyed her carefully, waiting for a reply. "Maybe I should go get some ice," she thought. "But maybe she doesn't want ice." What to do, what to do?[/ul]

Yumiko's eyes widened as she took in the image of her supposed roommate. Damn, she's pretty, she thought, but decided against complimenting her on her appearance. She examined her carefully, suddenly realizing what she had asked and that she was waiting on her for a response.
"Oh!" she said, snapping back to reality. "Y-Yeah, I'm alright, thank you." The pain in her forehead started to subside, indicating that the bump wasn't as bad as she had expected. That's good. "Uh.. thanks for asking," she said, giving a half smile to the girl.
Standing up, Yumiko held out her hand to the girl, pulling her up along with her. Putting on a welcoming smile, she shook the hand that she was holding. "I'm Yumiko Kameshiro," she said, a bit too bubbly. "It's nice to meet you."
Realizing that she had basically claimed her bed without considering her roommate's desires, she quickly apologized. "Sorry for taking the bottom bunk already. If you want to have it, then you can." How is it that I'm able to make myself look stupid within 5 minutes of meeting this girl?

Saku sighed in relief. At least the girl was okay and that the most she would be getting is a small bump on her forehead. She watched as the girl stood with a smile on her face and an outstretched hand. Saku stood up as well and shook the hand the girl offered. First impressions? For one, Saku thought that she was very welcoming. A bit clumsy, but who was she to judge. "I'm Yumiko Kameshiro. It's nice to meet you." Aside from welcoming, Yumiko was quite the kind person as well. "I'm Saku Hikage. Pleased to meet you!" Saku took a small step back and bowed slightly in front of Yumiko. "Sorry for taking the bottom bunk already. If you want to have it, then you can.""You can have it. I like the top anyways," Saku said with a smile. "How should we divide the closet? And which desk should we have?" Oh my. "I hope she doesn't think I'm annoying her with these questions," she thought. But they needed to decide who gets what to avoid arguments. Can't have petty fights going on just because of something so insignificant. [/ul]

Yumiko grinned. "That's a nice name you've got," she said. Though, pretty faces sometimes hide ugly personalities.. Yumiko silently prayed that her roommate wouldn't be someone she disliked. She wouldn't want to tear up the nice dorm during her fits, and she especially didn't want to give Saku any reason to fight with her. I'll just be friendly for now.
"You sure that's alright?" Yumiko asked. "If ever you want to switch, feel free to. I don't mind at all." Yumiko had learned in the past to not get attached to material things, such as her assigned bed. It's just a bed, she thought, feeling as if they were making a big deal out of it. Whatever.
Her eyes flashed towards the closet, taking note of its placement. Huh, I didn't even notice it. She made her way towards it, opening the door and gasping at it's space. "Damn," she whistled, impressed. "Well," she mused, stepping inside and walking around. "I guess we could each get our own wall.. the back wall could be divided between us, and this-" she patted the wall that the door was on. "This could be for shoes, accessories, or what-have-you." She turned to Saku, realizing that she had accidentally taken charge. "Uh.. Well, that is if you like that idea.. How would you divide it?"
They stepped out of the closet, back into their dorm room. "The desks..?" She eyed the two beautifully made desks, one identical to the other. "You can choose which one you want, Saku." Yumiko didn't really care for what she was given, so long as her roommate was happy.

Come to think of it, that was the first time Saku's name was complimented. She always thought of her name as plain and somewhat ordinary. Nothing really special, per se. But it was nice hearing a compliment here and there. She smiled and replied with, "Thank you." Saku got the feeling that she and Yumiko would get along swimmingly. They've been pretty nice to each other so far, and she was certain that they can maintain that for the remainder of the school year. At the question regarding the bottom bunk bed again, Saku shook her head up and down. It would be a nice change to sleep on top instead of the bottom. Saku followed Yumiko to the closet they'd be sharing. Simply saying that it was big would be a major understatement. Who in the world would need such big space? And Saku didn't have that many belongings to begin with. She followed Yumiko inside and watched her roommate walk around. "I guess we could each get our own wall..." Yumiko spoke of how they should divide their space. As she talked, Saku took mental notes of what her roommate was saying. This would go to that and so on. It was a good idea. Saku couldn't have thought about it herself. "We should divide it how you mentioned. It's not a bad idea."She then followed Yumiko back to the room. There were two desks, both placed against a wall. One was near the beds and the other opposite of that. Saku pointed to the desk farthest from the beds. "I'd like that one."[/ul]

Yumiko nodded. "I'm glad you like it," she said. Though she would rather her roommate be the one to make decisions, this sense of control made her feel a bit powerful. Don't let it get to your head, she thought. You aren't that kind of person. Mother and father didn't bring you up to be a power hungry bitch.
Her eyes followed the direction that Saku was pointing in, landing at the desk farthest from their bed. "Alright, well it's yours," she responded. With that being said, Yumiko grabbed one of her smaller bags and placed it atop her desk. I'll set everything up later.
Plopping onto the chair at her desk, she turned to Saku and motioned for her to grab her chair and join her. "So," Yumiko began. She allowed her eyes to bore into Saku's as she spoke. "Where are you from? Tell me about yourself.. if that isn't a problem." Surprisingly, Yumiko found herself to be quite interested in her roommate's story. Might as well know her as best as I can, seeing as I have to live with her.

What was there to say, really, other than the usual 'Hi, I'm Saku and I'm in the acting division.' There was nothing wrong with that, but the person she was talking to was her roommate. They were going to be living with each other for quite some time. It'd be best for them to get to know each other well. But how well is well? She barely knows the girl and she doesn't want to get too personal in her introduction. Saku reasoned that she would just say a few things about herself, and her roommate can learn more about her through time. "Well, I'm in the acting division. Acting has been a hobby of mine for as long as I can remember," Saku said. "And I'm from a town a bit south from here." This much so far would suffice, she thought. Well maybe she needed to say a few more things. "I'm a bit of math nerd, and I stutter sometimes when I meet new people." She paused for a while and began to fiddle with her hands. She stopped after a while and placed her hands back on top of her lap. "How about you, Kameshiro?" Saku felt like she talked enough and that her roommate should have her fair share in talking.[/ul]

Yumiko nodded. Acting, huh? She was a bit surprised to have an acting major be so nice to her, seeing as she expected everyone at this school to be snobby. But luckily, she had scored one of the nicer people, and with this realization she smiled to herself.
Saku seems like a down to earth person, Yumiko noted. I like her. The conversation then focused itself on her, and seeing as Yumiko didn't really talk much about herself, she didn't know what to say.
"Uh.. I'm a.. I'm a singing major," she stammered. Pull yourself together. Yumiko cleared her throat. "I've been singing since I was 8.. And uh.. I don't really care for schoolwork, though I'm not at all stupid." Yumiko sighed as she ran a hand through her hair. "S-Sorry.. I'm no good at introductions. I'm not really an interesting person to begin with."

One can have no interest in particular subjects and would still be able to excel in them. Saku thought that Yumiko was that type of person. Saku was a bit opposite of that, however. Though she doesn't care for at least one-fourth of her classes, she works her hardest at those she actually has an interest in. "S-Sorry... I'm no good at introductions. I'm not really an interesting person to begin with." No one, really, is good with introductions in the first place. Unless they had a lot of confidence and the happy-go-lucky kind of personality. Saku smiled a little at an attempt to ease her roommate's nervousness around her. "It's alright. I'm not one for introductions either," she reassured Yumiko. She placed a hand behind her hand and laughed a bit. It was weird how she was able to introduce herself to Yumiko without stuttering. Normally she would've considering that Yumiko was a new face to her. And not Yumiko was not an interesting person to begin with? Saku thought the opposite of that. When she heard her mention singing, she immediately wondered how she sounded like, if she wrote any songs; things like that. "You're an interesting person! Don't think otherwise!" When she had said that, Saku put her hand over Yumiko's and smiled politely.[/ul]

Touched by the small gesture of kindness Saku gave her, Yumiko smiled widely, feeling relieved that her roommate was someone she could see herself being genuine friends with. Then again, I'm never good at keeping friends. Pushing the negativity to the back of her mind, she nodded and said thank you, slightly bowing her head in embarrassment.
Not wanting to touch the subject of her background story, as well as hoping she wouldn't ask, Yumiko went back to talking about their majors. "Acting.. that's cool. If ever you need to practice your lines for something.. would it be alright if I watched?" Mentally crossing her fingers, she hoped that she would say yes.
The image of her sister, Ayane, practicing in front of the mirror when she was younger and part of the drama club danced around in Yumiko's mind. She had always admired her sister's ability to act, and would often find herself mimicking her lines when she was no where in sight. Surprisingly, the memory wasn't painful. Ayane.. I wonder where you are.. Looking back at Saku, she realized that her bright eyes were much like her sister's. It's like I have her back, she thought.

Saku wouldn't mind it at all. Heck, she'd love it if someone watched her practice her lines for anything. Practicing with someone was way better than practicing in front of the mirror. It was awkward for Saku to stare at herself in the mirror and it didn't do much to boost her confidence. At least with practicing with someone present, you'd get constructive criticism and or advice. "I'd love for you to watch!" Enthusiasm was etched on Saku's face with a glint in her eyes. "I-I'd like to hear you sing sometime too."[/ul]

"I'd love for you to watch! I-I'd like to hear you sing sometime too." Though Yumiko felt a bit shocked to hear that her roommate wanted to witness her singing, she was happy nonetheless. Maybe I could relive those moments with Ayane.. But quickly, she shook her head, getting the idea out of her mind. No, Yumiko, Saku is not Ayane. She can't be Ayane, no matter how much you wish she was. Let it go.Sighing, she gave an apologetic smile towards the girl. I shouldn't act out like that. She'll want me to explain myself. "S-Sorry.." she stuttered, biting her lip. "Just.. too much thinking. I think it'd be nice to have someone watch me sing.. I've only ever sung in front of my family.." That wasn't true. She had sung in front of a crowd once before, and earlier today, Rylen had run into her and began to sing with her. Yumiko smiled to herself, feeling a bit accomplished. I actually sang without feeling self conscious. Over the years that she was active in her vocal lessons as well as that one show she participated in, she had never sung without feeling conscious of her voice. The only time she ever felt that she sounded wonderful was when she was alone in the big meadow by her home. Wanting to stop thinking too much, especially in the midst of a conversation, she ran through her mind for topics to talk about. "So," she began, smiling. "Do you like it here so far? Have you explored?" Trying to joke around, as well as seem like a more outgoing person, she wiggled her eyebrows and asked, "Meet any guys?"

Sorry was better than a flat out no, Saku thought. It was alright with her if her roommate didn't want her to listen, though it'd be nice to hear one song. "Just... too much thinking. I think id' be nice to have someone watch me sing... I've only ever sung in front of my family..." Oh? A change of heart, maybe? A small grin crept up on Saku's face. A smile was also plastered on Yumiko's face. "So this means that I can listen, right?" she mentally asked herself. Of course. Her roommate just gave her the okay, but it was somewhat hesitant. Saku didn't question it. Yumiko had her reasons just how she had her own. "So. Do you like it here so far? Have you explored? Meet any guys?" Oh my. Saku tried to remember what she did that day. Did she like it here? Of course she did. Everyone was just so friendly and kind towards her and there was nothing bad about it. The French class was kind of interesting, too. And at the thought of Mademoiselle Heng Ru, she inwardly blushed. Explored? Just one area and she met two guys there. Both who just happened to be a year or two older than her. "I don't like it here. I love it!" Saku exclaimed. It was all so different to her and practically everything was exciting. She would have to thank her grandfather later when she had the chance. "I've explored the choreography room and met two guys: Atticus-senpai and Yamamoto-senpai. They're both third years." Not wanting to keep the conversation all about herself and what she did during the day, Saku directed a question of her own to Yumiko. "How about you? Anything exciting or noteworthy happen to you today?"[/ul]

"I don't like it here. I love it!" Saku's enthusiasm caused Yumiko to laugh, happy that her roommate seemed so excited about the new scenery. I get how she feels, I guess. Though she didn't really express the thrill she felt from being here at the academy like Saku, she felt the same nonetheless. Third years, huh? That's interesting. "I see. Were they nice?" What a stupid question. Everyone here seems to be nice and well mannered. Coughing awkwardly, she reasoned out her question. "Not that I expect them to be rude.. just.. you know what I mean." Giving an embarrassed smile, she mentally noted that she shouldn't compare the students to the people she knew back home. Those people were horrid, and all these students are young stars waiting to be discovered. They're nothing alike. The conversation's topic went back to her, making her feel a bit awkward in the spotlight. Fidgeting in her chair, she ran through the day's events. "Not really.. I just ran into some people and got some names, though I met this guy, Rylen.. he's a third year as well and uh.. we sang together." Praying that Saku wouldn't get the idea that this Rylen character and her were a couple of some sort, she added in, "We just met. He uh.. heard me singing and decided to do a little duet with me.." Enough about me, she thought, and smiled at Saku. "It might be a bit early to say this but I think that.. I think that we'll be good friends." Considering Yumiko didn't know much about being a 'good friend', let alone having one, she prayed that her prediction would be right.
