How could Dai not laugh along with the other boy? The story was hilarious, no matter how embarrassing and silly it was. "I told you it was a funny story." he laughed wiping at the laughter induced tears.
The goofy smile was back, "Aw that's cute. That wasn't supposed to be a compliment, just stating the obvious." Childhood friends turn into lovers, can you get any more adorable than that?
Daisuke twisted his mouth into a half frown, half smile and stretched his long limbs. He leaned back wards in his chair and looked up at the ceiling in thought, "I'm not going to disagree with you.." Usually Daisuke would disagree, saying that people were all good on the inside somewhere, but... he knew that thought was just way too naive. "But I guess I like to automatically assume people have good intentions until proven otherwise."
He straightened his back and looked back at Ren, "If it counts for anything? You can trust me." Laughing nervously, he pulled on his headphones around his neck and spoke again, "That wasn't supposed to be sappy or anything, I was just letting you know that I don't care that you have money." Dai slapped his face into his hands, "This isn't coming out right."

Ren started to laugh - "And how do I know you aren't lying?" Ren said as he covered half of his face with his hand, trying to hide his smile. "I've heard people say that countless times, but it seems they never go through with it." Ren felt uncomfortable talking about his trusting issues, but it seemed like he didn't have any other option.
"You just met me. You don't know how much money I have. How do I know you won't change your mind once you know the exact amount?" Ren winked at him. Taunting him was probably not the best thing to do, but he wanted to test him to see if Daisuke was actually someone that was worth putting up with.

Dai raised an eyebrow at him and smirked, rubbing his chin, "I don't know... You'll just have to find out I guess." He flashed a genuine heart felt smile.
"You just met me. You don't know how much money I have. How do I know you won't change your mind once you know the exact amount?"
"Well that one's easy," He beamed, "You could have an infinite amount of money and I wouldn't care. I don't care about money. How is you having money going to help me?" He shrugged, looking down at his tracing fingers, "What's the point of money if you don't earn it yourself?"

Ren was surprised at his answer. "Not too bad, kid." Ren said as he patted him on the head, pretending he was a teacher or something. "I guess you can make a good friend." He avoided eye contact, not taking this conversation that seriously. "Hmm, think you can buy me another coffee though?" He winked as he pointed to the coffee machine, "I haven't gotten my allowance yet~" He gave him a cocky smile, not sure if that was the right thing to ask right after the words they just said.
"Although.." Ren quickly glanced at the purple headed boy, "Are you sure being friends with me is a good idea?"

Daisuke laughed as the other boy patted his head, he had given a good answer. That was a first. They really looked liked friends, it was nice. Was Ren letting Daisuke be his friend? Dai almost feigned surprised but he decided that would have ruined the moment.
"Hmm, think you can buy me another coffee though? I haven't gotten my allowance yet~"
Dai stuck his tongue out at the boy and leaned back in his chair, "No way!" He said, trying to act tough. Daisuke wasn't a pushover, but... he really liked making people happy... so this whole 'I'm-not-buying-you-coffee' thing didn;t last too long. With a sigh, he gave up pushing his chair back. "Any flavor in particular?"
"Are you sure being friends with me is a good idea?"
"Huh?" He asked, tilting his head to the side? "I don't see what makes it a bad idea."

Ren smiled as the boy got up due to his request. "Surprise me." Ren said while rolling up his sleeves on his blazer. "Ah, and I just like it black." Ren added while he stared at the boy. Weirded out at the fact Daisuke never heard of his bad reputation, Ren shrugged. "...Nevermind." He said awkwardly, not sure how to respond to the awkward situation he brought upon himself.
"Well, you know how rude I can get. Why would you want a friend like that?" Ren shook his head and smiled, "I wouldn't want to be friends with me. I'm unreliable."

Daisuke laughed at Ren's request, "Yes, Master Ren." He teased doing a courtesy. He had never been more thankful to have long legs, in only a couple of strides Dai reached the machine and got a regular black coffee, and then a sweet french vanilla one for himself. There could never be enough coffee in Dai's life, maybe it'll stop him from growing.
When he came back he passed the boy his coffee and took a sip of his own, "Yeah, you can be rude, but that's because you don't trust anyone. Your rudeness is kinda a test, see if people can deal with you through your worst, that way you don't have to deal with fakes." He shrugged taking another sip and looking off into the crown thoughtfully. "I don't really buy that you're unreliable. I feel like you're the type of person that holds their friendships close. I mean... I could be wrong but... I don't think I am." He grinned, looking at Ren from the corner of his eye.

"Ah! Master Ren? I like that." Ren said with a little smirk. His expressions brightened as Daisuke brought him a new cup of coffee and immediately took a sip. It was refreshing, and it calmed him down a lot. "Thanks." Ren muttered as he took another sip. It was like he addicted, but it wasn't like he cared.
As Ren listened to Daisuke speak - his eyes widened. Ren just stood there quiet, not knowing how to react to the boy's right assumptions about him. He was spot on. What was with people these days? "...How..." Ren said as he gripped his coffee cup tighter. He didn't like being an easy book to read, but unfortunately, that's all he's been the past few days, apparently. He bit his lip in confusion, not knowing how to reply. "....You're fucking.. weird.." Ren said as he awkwardly took an sip from his coffee once again.

"You're welcome." He smiled, almost surprised Ren said thank you at all. See? He's a nice guy, underneath all of that gloom. He thought, smiling to himself.
"...How....You're fucking.. weird.."
He couldn't hold back his laughter. Ren clearly didn't like the fact that Daisuke saw through his little act. It wasn't like Ren was some sort of open book... Dai was just intuitive. It was one of the perks of always looking for the good in people. "Don't be mad, you're not an open book. I'm just a bit more intuitive than most." he shrugged again, secretly happy that he hit the nail on the head. "And I take pride in my weirdness. Weird and awkward Daisuke Kudo."

Trying to look away, Ren sort of felt awkward. How should he act towards him now? He was annoying him though, that's for sure. Ren took a sip out of his coffee and nodded, "I can see that." Ren said simply as he kept his lips on the coffee lid, looking down. "...So what now?" Ren asked rudely as he stared at him. "Now that you know my whole 'act'," he said while putting one hand in his pocket, "How am I supposed to act towards you now..?" He said, tilting his head a bit.
The original Ren - under all that bad personality, was just a person that wanted to please others. Just a person that wanted to treat people right, someone that wanted to make others happy. Although, considering that his true self was a weakness, he sealed it away, hoping that no one would see through his facade.
"I can be super nice if I want, you know." Ren said as he smirked. He put on the most feminine smile he could and put up a peace sign - "I can be your gay best friend if you wanted me to, Daisuke-chan~" Ren said as he died a little inside, not knowing what he was doing. His feminine smile faded immediately as he realized how ridiculous he was being.
Ren took a deep breath and closed his eyes, and when he opened them, he was just the normal Ren he knew. He didn't know what he was trying to achieve when he showed Daisuke his many faces, but he shrugged and casually took a sip of coffee. "You can choose if you'd like, because there's no way in hell I'll be able to act normal around you."

Dai flashed yet another genuine smile at Ren, amused by his reaction to uncovering his 'true self' "If I pick the Ren I want you to be wouldn't that make me as bad as the people that use you?" he said softly, almost to himself as he took another sip of his coffee.
Light blue hues brightened toward the boy, "Just be whatever Ren you want to be when you're around me. If it's jerk Ren, or my gay best friend... as long as you feel comfortable around me then it doesn't matter right?" Fiddling with the rim of his cup Dai brought his eyes away from Ren and to the steam escaping his cup. "I mean, I've never had an actual friend but, you're supposed to feel at ease when you're around them right?"

Ren was yet again surprised at his answer. He shook his head, frustrated. "Alright then." He answered irritatedly. "For someone that doesn't have actual friends, you sure do know a lot about them." He said as he took the last sip out of his coffee and crushed the cup afterwards, throwing it on the ground.
"What if I don't feel comfortable around you?" Ren kept going on with these, "What if's", but he couldn't help it. It seemed like whatever questions Ren had, Daisuke had the answers. "What if I never liked you to begin with, and you're just an annoying little prick that chose to sit down with the wrong person?"

"Alright then. For someone that doesn't have actual friends, you sure do know a lot about them."
"I watch a lot of tv and read a lot of books. I guess you could say I learned how to be a friend, but I never had anyone that got close enough for me to apply that knowledge." He would have said Until now. but Dai didn't want to push any unnecessary buttons.
"What if I don't feel comfortable around you? What if I never liked you to begin with, and you're just an annoying little prick that chose to sit down with the wrong person?"
Dai nodded, taking in the question and letting it sink in. Blowing wisps of steam away from him, Dai pressed the cup to his lips and thought. "If you didn't like me to begin with, you probably wouldn't have told me about your past right? No one just spills their past to random disliked strangers."

Ren was fed up. He is reading him like a book. There goes his tough guy facade. "Okay." Ren muttered, "You beat me." He said with his hands raised, "You've pretty much seen through all my... tricks?" He said awkwardly. "Now what?"
He sighed, "I guess I can think about us being friends and all.." Ren poked his cheeks, trying to figure out what else to do to save him from boredom. "Okay. Fine." Ren slapped his hands on the table lightly as he smiled. "From now on, we're friends!" Ren grinned like he did when he was a child, not sure if revealing his weaker side was a smart idea.

Dai grinned, placing down his coffee, his happiness couldn't be hidden. First real friend he's had since Kou. And even Kou was questionable. Funny, he was talking about trusting he was but... it took a lot to do something to really call yourself one od Daisuke's friends. Ren had spilled his life and became almost vulnerable, that was friend worthy. It was quite an honor to break down Ren's walls and get to this stage of nice Ren.
"I am honored, Master Ren." Daisuke joked bowing. There is was Ren's true grin, it was almost as nice as his smile. Dai bit back the compliment and just enjoyed the atmosphere, with his friend.
