Character(s): Hikaru Akane and Max sorry i forgot his last name was it Tenishi? .__. Oh, and anyone who wishes to come in! (: Time: 725am Location: Running Track
Hikaru wasn't always the morning person, but today felt like an exception. He hadn't done anything physical since he'd gotten here, and Hikaru felt like he owed his body something. And so, with one earphone plugged in, blaring some American band, Hikaru headed for the track. "So I'm all alone, huh?" He said out loud, looking around the empty fields.
Then he began to run, keeping what he hoped was a steady, fast-enough pace. The early October morning was pretty chilly, and he could feel he cold breeze cut by his face with every step he took. It wasn't difficult for him; running. He'd made it a habit to run when he realised his interest in singing.

The rise and fall of Max's chest was distracting him. He was laying in his back on the bleachers, panting from his run, earbuds stuck in his ears and oblivious to the world around him.
He'd slipped out of his dorm room early that morning -- after leaving Sora a note to keep his roommate from worrying again -- and made his way quickly to the track, running as the sun rose.
Max hadn't run since he'd started Aozora, and he flt awful about that. At home, he used to run all the time, usually just to get out of the house for a bit, but he'd gotten lazy, opting to lay around his room and watch television -- much to his other friend's distaste, Asuka had yelled at him twice now to "Go read a book!" -- on his laptop.
Rise, fall. Rise, fall.
Another person ran past him, obviously not noticing him. Max propped himself up with his elbows, his iPod sliding down his stomach and clattering against the metal below him. Max hadn't expected to see someone else out on the track so early. If the brunette had to guess, he would have assumed it was the gym teacher, but, looking closer, Max realized it was a student.
The boy chuckled, waiting until the the student rounded the track before standing up and stretching his tired limbs. "Hey!" he called out to the boy, tugging an earbud out of his ear. "What are you planning to run?"
Even though he was exhausted already, Max wouldn't mind having someone to run with for a bit.

As Hikaru continued another round -his howmanyeth, he hadn't kept track- he saw a brown-hairedboy rise from the bleachers by his side, stretching. "Hey!" The boy called out as he stretched, "What are you planning to run?"
This caught Hikaru. "Hmm?" Hikaru looked at him as he slowed to a jog, "like how much more I'm gonna run?" He looked around the track and then to the sky, the sun slowly rising against the pale blue sky. "Maybe another lap or two," Hikaru called back, "how 'bout you?"

The other boy looked confused for a moment, eyes darting around the track and field before he called back to him. Max didn't recognize the boy, but, then again Max really didn't know anyone outside of the two friends he had.
He shrugged to himself. Even if they weren't friends, running next to the other boy wouldn't bother Max.
"Maybe another lap or two," the other boy said loudly. "How 'bout you?"
Tilting his head as he sidled up to the boy, Max said, "I've already run a mile and a half this morning, but another few laps can't hurt." Actually, it could, it could hurt very much the next morning, but Max didn't care. There was a lot on his mind, and running helped distract him.
He stuck his hand out to the boy. "I'm Max, by the way."

"I've already run a mile and a half this morning, but another few laps can't hurt." The other boy replied as he came closer to Hikaru. Sticking out his hand to Hikaru, the brown-haire, brown-eyed boy introduced himself as Max. Extending his own to take Max's hand, Hikaru grinned, "I'm Hikaru."
Hikaru brought his hand to his head, but quickly took his hand back when he realized he wasn't wearing his usual fedora. He just hoped Max wouldn't think strange of him to do so. Hikaru turned to survey the rest of the track, and the skies above, the sun coming into view. "So, another few more laps, was it? Wanna race?"

The boy -- Hikaru, he had said his name was -- shook Max's hand, reaching up toward his head after a moment, a confused look on his face. Max raised an eyebrow at the other boy's curious action, but thought nothing of it. He'd met even stranger people since he had arrived at the front gates of Aozora, Hikaru wasn't anything to worry about.
Hikaru turned away from Max -- who watched him curiously, placing his earbuds back in his ears --, his gaze scrapping over their surroundings. The sun was coming up, and Max really didn't want to be out much longer. If the boy took any more time to observe their surroundings and watch the sunrise, Max was going to leave.
"So, another few more laps, was it? Wanna race?"
Max chuckled, thumbing through his iPod for the songs he'd specifically labeled as 'good for running.' Sure, he hadn't been running in a long time but that did not in any way mean that Max was out of shape. He smirked at the boy.
"Sure, let's go,"
The brunette took off at a slow jog, giving the other boy an opportunity to catch up before taking off at a full sprint. His chest was aching, and he could barely feel his legs, but Max continued to push himself. His feet pounded against the ground, sending tiny rhythmic vibrations through his entire body. The cold October air burned his eyes and turned his nose pink, but he just didn't care.
Max loved running, and he'd forgotten how much. He paid no attention to the location of the other boy, he just focused on his legs moving, keeping his breathing even, and the song playing in ears.
Rounding the last curve, Max slowed to a jog, laughing to himself and pulling his earbuds from his ears. He felt an exhilarating rush of adrenaline -- runner's high -- as his jog turned in to a walk and Max turned to face the opposite direction, waiting for the boy he'd left in his dust.

"Sure, let's go,"
Hikaru grinned, and watched Max put on his earpiece, and then the other boy began with a jog. He picked up the pace, and ran forward, keeping up with the brunet, feeling the wind cut against his face. Running alongside someone was something he hadn't done in a while, and he realised how great it felt to feel alive; breathing and pushing himself forward.
Hikaru began to tire -damn it, how unfit had he become?- and Max had run past him, and was slowing down making his way to the last curve of the track. As Hikaru ran his final steps, Max was walking and turned to face him. "You're fast," Hikaru said simply, managing to keep the panting out of his voice. "Feels like I hadn't run for ages."
