Character(s): Yousuke Kiyama & anyone else! Time: 1:30pm, Friday Location: Library
Being a teacher was fun... for the most part. Yousuke loved his students - he loved teaching them about sports and playing those very sports with them. He was all about connecting with his students and sometimes the work he did was so enjoyable that he almost always forgot that it was his job... except when paperwork was involved.
School had only just resumed from the summer break and Yousuke was already exhausted. It wasn't like he had much to do, but the physical education teacher was easily bored. He was like a little child, all he wanted to do was run around outside and play but that was an admittedly hard thing to do when you were a teacher.
Yousuke was sitting at one of the desks in the library, writing things down in his gradebook. Merely putting in grades was enough to bore him, and his eyelids were drooping more and more as he continued to work. God, the one good thing about the library was that there were students around. That was the only reason why Yousuke came here, since he didn't want to be isolated from everyone else by sitting in his office.
"I'm falling asleep." he muttered to himself. "I shouldn't do that." he added, his voice getting quieter and quieter. His head slowly hung forward, and his eyelids closed. Yousuke Kiyama was officially bored to sleep.

As Ren couldn't help but skip class the whole day, he wandered in the library for something to do. Sleeping sounded good right now - but no matter how much he tried, he just couldn't. Every time he did try, he would drown himself in thoughts and doubts and over think almost every second. He wasn't really in the mood for that.
Ren didn't really like to read, but it was a good time killer - that he admitted. As he entered the library his eyes widened. Never before in his life has he seen so many books in one place. Sure, he had a library in his mansion - but he's never really been in it. Students were everywhere either conversing quietly, or doing homework. It was nice and quiet and that was the way he liked it.
As he looked around, he spotted a brown headed young man sitting there by himself dozing off with a bunch of papers infront of him. His heart almost stopped as he realized who it was. Yousuke-nii. Probably the only person he didn't want to see at the moment - Ayame being second, of course.
He walked over him and glared at him for a good few minutes until he finally got enough anger built in to slap his hand on the desk. "Sleeping on your job, huh? A pretty responsible action for a big shot teacher, eh?" He smirked.
What did he just do?

"Sleeping on your job, huh? A pretty responsible action for a big shot teacher, eh?"
Yousuke suddenly sat up with a jerk. Jesus christ, that voice came out of nowhere. Rubbing at his eyes groggily (even though he had only slept for probably five minutes), Yousuke turned towards the source of the voice. "Eh?" he asked, his voice still a bit dazed and confused.
"EH!" he shouted once he realized who was sitting near him. "Ren!" he said, a bit quieter. He didn't want to get kicked out of the library again. A smile went on Yousuke's face - thank god it was Ren, and not some other teacher - but the smile disappeared as fast as it had emerged. It was Ren. The stubborn little boy who had grown into an immature brat.
"Are you trying to provoke me?" asked Yousuke, his voice serious and quiet.

Ren just watched in amusement as the expression on Yousuke's face changed within moments, from sleepy to surprised - then to serious. Ren smirked. This was just like Yousuke. Except for the serious part. He still didn't know how he became that way - how... mature he's become. Their age difference never crosses his mind. To him, they're the same age. Well, that's the way they acted when they were little, at least.
"Are you trying to provoke me?" Yousuke-nii said in a unnatural tone. "Mmmm, well..." Ren said as he sat down. "Yep." he blurted out bluntly. He stared at him with no emotion at all while chewing his gum loudly. The argument they last had hasn't left his mind ever since, of course. But he couldn't help but pick fights with him. He used to do this all the time, and it got boring and old as he did it too much - but now, this isn't the Yousuke he used to pick on. He was different. He was more mature than Ren would ever be. He wanted to see his different emotions, the angriest he could get.
It was like reading a new book. "So, did you mean all those things you said the other day?" he exclaimed pretty loudly, trying to attract everybody's attention so he could get Yousuke in trouble. "Because you know, that was pretty harsh since we all just.. met up that day. Reunited. You know, all that cheesy shit." He started slouching out of his chair, then put his feet up on the table.
He stared at Yousuke, "I mean, last time I remembered you weren't that mean, right, Yousuke-chan~?" now he was just playing with him. He prepared himself for another outburst of seriousness and maturity, but hey. He was interested.
And he wasn't going to lie, this was entertaining.

Yousuke's face suddenly broke out into a smile. He didn't know why, and he probably never would. Maybe it was the mere fact that Ren had sat down near him. Maybe it was the fact that by merely seeing either one of these two kids immediately brought a happy memory to Yousuke. Of course, it also seemed to bring unwanted ones... but that didn't matter. He loved these two, and Yousuke knew that even their new teenage personality couldn't win over that love.
"Can't you chew softer?" asked Yousuke, his voice not cold but not particularly happy either. "It's disruptive, and I'm trying to do some work here." Yousuke gestured at the pile of papers in front of him. The man returned to his work for a few moments, scribbling a few more lines when all of the sudden --
"So, did you mean all those things you said the other day?"
Dammit, Ren. Can't back down, can you? Yousuke thought, feeling some competitiveness rise in his throat. Ren was years younger than him, but the kid knew how to provoke people. As Ren continued to drawl out his words, loud and clear, Yousuke found himself grinning.
"You think that's funny, Ren?" Yousuke asked, shaking his head in disbelief. "Trying to get your You-nii in trouble? I wonder how many times your stubborn little 6-year-old self tried to get that to happen." The teacher raised his eyebrows a bit tauntingly, gripping the edges of the wooden table. Don't fuel him too much, who knows how disruptive he can be. Yousuke warned himself, ...But then again, I don't want to keep fighting with him. And... I want to have some fun with this too.

She stepped into the library with every intention of getting her mind off of Yousuke and Ren, but as she took a look around, the first two people she saw were Yousuke and Ren. Mentally slapping herself, she gathered the courage to walk up to their table.
"Oi," she said softly, just loud enough to be heard.
They looked anxious and tense as usual, but Ren looked more like he was enjoying himself. It was like he was indulging himself in Yousuke's squirming. It was sick, and rude, but she had to admit, Ren being in a good mood was so rare that she found herself at a loss for words.

"I find it absolutely hilarious." Ren said faking a grin. Who was he kidding, all he had to do was say sorry. Just two simple words. Why couldn't he just let it out? He looked up to the ceiling, thinking about how he was going to go.... 'apologize'. He sat up straight, feet off the table and actually looked at him properly.
"Yousuke." He said in a serious tone. He bit his lip. "Oh god, no. Don't make me say it." Ren thought to himself. He wasn't used to this; usually, the roles were reversed. Ren was always the person receiving the apologies, but now he's the one that has to say it. He rolled his eyes and put his head on the desk.
"Oi!" He turned his head, "g-r-e-a-t" Ren said sarcastically as he glanced at Ayame. "What are you doing here cry baby? Here to cry some more, or...." he laughed. He was probably digging his own grave with these two but he didn't care a bit.

Why do you keep fighting back, Ren? I'm still confused about what you're doing... but I'm not completely deceived by you, you know.
These strangely paternal and concerned thoughts were the only thing that was running through Yousuke's mind at the moment. Even though he loved his students, he had never really thought this deeply about them. He was usually out there just to have fun with them, which admittedly made Yousuke a bad teacher. But... Ren and Ayame were different. Yousuke couldn't do anything but worry over them. Worry about how they individually acted, worry about how they acted to each other and others... when were they going to have fun again?
"H-huh?" Yousuke began, a bit startled when Ren said his name. Just then, however, Ayame came into the picture. Yousuke suddenly stood up, surprised at how all three of them had come together again. Maybe today, things would be straightened out. The man glanced between the two kids in front of him.
Jesus christ, are they still fighting? Well... it's not like Ren and I had made up either... but these two always had a special connection with each other that I never had. You know, both being young and stuff. I would have thought those two would have made up already....
"Crying?" Yousuke asked, "What do you mean...? Ayame was crying?"

"Crap", he thought. What was he going to tell Yousuke-nii? Ren didn't technically make her cry, but... if he found it he was the reason she was crying, he probably would get yelled at or something like that. Everytime Ren made Ayame cry in the past, Yousuke would punch him a few times and yell at him, and if that's just what he did in the past he wasn't sure what he'd do now.
He became irritated when Yousuke asked about Ayame. He turned to him and glared, "No. Forget about it." He said quickly, not wanting to think about what happened in the music room a few days ago. "She cries all the time, you should know that, Yousuke." he said slowly, acting as if Yousuke was stupid.
He stood up and stared at Ayame, "What the hell are you doing here anyway? Don't you have class?" He pushed in the chair he was previously sitting in, making a loud and unnecessary noise.

"Don't worry about it, Yousuke, it was nothing." she said coldly. That was the one of many lies she had told, and possibly the biggest. It was far from nothing. She pulled out a chair and sat down."I'm just here to see what's going on."
She looked cautiously at Ren, who was still looking pleased with himself. That smug bastard. As miserable as it made her, she kept staring into those dead, listless eyes, looking for some sign of remorse, but there was none. There wasn't much of anything but pride and boredom. Yousuke looked quite the opposite; worried and distraught.
Had she been a few years younger, she would have told everything to Yousuke, exaggerating the worst parts. He would then comfort her like he always did, and wipe away her tears. But that was years ago, and this was not a skinned knee, this was a real conflict. This was a situation that would either result in friendship or rivalry.
"So, You-san, will you be teaching the girl's P.E. class this term?" she asked, hoping a few simple questions would neutralize all the tension. Her hands twisted together in her lap, and her cheeks paled.

Yousuke raised his eyebrows and crossed his arms over his chest, restraining himself with all of his strength to not stand up and give Ren a piece of his mind. "Crying all the time? How is that not bad? That's even worse than her crying just once." Yousuke said, "You two definitely changed, but I'm not sure if either of you really actually grew up."
Yousuke had always been blunt and honest when it came to Ren and Ayame. He never wanted to hide anything from them, especially how he felt. They changed, but did they really mature? Yousuke wasn't sure about Ayame, but he was definitely positive that Ren had not mentally grown up another year ever since he had turned eleven.
"Are you sure it was nothing?" Yousuke asked, and he didn't expect an answer. Ayame used to never hide things from him. She would tell Yousuke everything - but that was when the man was even younger than the two teenagers sitting in front of him. That was years ago. It seemed like it was eons ago.
The teacher stayed quiet for another several moments as he glanced back and forth between Ren and Ayame. He was still rather childish, but Yousuke was still an adult. He was also a teacher for over a year now, and he could read his students easier than he could have ever done before. There was obviously something going on between these two, and a preteen Yousuke would have jumped right into the conflict and tried to solve it.
...I better stay out of this one.
"E-eh? Oh, yeah, of course I'm teaching it. There isn't anyone else." Yousuke shrugged, "Why do you ask? Don't tell me you don't want me as your teacher!" he feigned a gasp of surprise.
As long as we stay away from negative thoughts. . .the last thing I need is for Ren to throw one of his tantrums and for Ayame to break out into tears.
God, they're both still little children.
But then again, I haven't grown up that much either.

Ren flinched and looked at Yousuke evilly. He'd normally say something offensive, but he was going to let that one go with a, "Whatever." Actually grew up? That was the only thing that Ren did without them. He changed drastically and walked on the wrong paths ever since he's been abandoned by his parents. He's matured - but probably in a bad way.
"Did I mumble?" Ren said rudely as Yousuke re-asked his question. "It was nothing. Right, Ayame?" He stared at the girl with cold eyes. "Hmph." He sat on the table as they both started conversing about... gym class. "I suppose you're teaching my class too, then." He said dreadfully. "Great. Seeing both of you everyday is going to put a cherry on top of everything!" He said under his breath, but loud enough for the both of them to hear.

"Of course I'll be teaching your class, Ren." Yousuke said casually, putting his hands behind his head, "And I'm glad you feel that way, Ren!" Yousuke added, ignoring the boy's sarcasm, "I do love cherries. I hope that you two will work hard in my class. Despite popular belief, physical education is important, you know."
"Anyways," he continued, his voice now becoming a bit more serious, "I...I'm genuinely glad that I got to meet up with you two again. Even if our reunion wasn't like I expected it to be...I'm still happy." Yousuke ran a hand through his hair and quickly turned around. He gathered up all of his paperwork and stood up.
"Uh, I guess I'll be going now. I hope you two..." Yousuke trailed off, not quite sure what to say. Instead of finishing his sentence, the man quickly turned around and headed out of the library.
I hope you two become friends again.
