Character(s): Mayumi Yoshida & Isuzu Koyama. Time: 9:45 A.M. Location: Dorm 10B
The hallway's shade of blue hadn't bothered Mayumi so much when she visited the previous year, but, now, it was starting to get on her nerves. Maybe it was just the headache hauling her bags up the steps had given her, but she was scowling lightly at the powder-blue.
Where was her sister's physical strength when Mayumi wanted to used it?
If she hadn't been searching so intently for it, she would have walked right past dorm 10B. The door was set about six inches back in the wall, making it nearly invisible to... well, probably just Mayumi at the moment.
Written on a whiteboard hanging on the door was her last name along with the name "KOYAMA" in large letters. She didn't recognize the name at all, and reached for the doorknob without much restraint.
Though, when she opened the door, she was surprised to find the room empty. Mayumi had rationalized that her roommate was a newcomer like her, and would undoubtedly be there earlier than she was...
"Guess not," the dark-haired girl muttered, pulling her bags and herself into the room.
Quickly, she claimed the bottom bunk - fear of heights, no one knew - and tossed her bags into the left half of the closet. Mayumi didn't have many luxury items living on the same grounds as a temple, but she had been allotted a small laptop computer that she cherished - less than her piano back at home, but all the same. She used it just about as often.
She nestled into her claimed bunk, queued up a movie on her laptop and placed her earbuds in her ears, waiting for her roommate to arrive.

Quickly scanning her surroundings with every step she took, Isuzu couldn't help but groan power-blue painted hallways. She rolled her eyes at the fact that that would be what she would be seeing everyday from then on.
Isuzu had never been good with directions, and ended up passing her dorm door twice, pacing back and forth along the hallway, before actually noticing it. "Stupid, who puts a door this deep into a wall?" she muttered beneath her breath, swinging her bag back onto her shoulder which was threatening to fall.
"Yoshida..." she read out quietly to herself quite curiously, before shrugging.
After opening the door, the first thing Isuzu did was drop her bag, groaning from the effort. Rolling her sapphire-grey eyes again, she mentally scolded her mother for forcing her to pack so much. She let out another groan as she stretched her arms above her head, already feeling the soreness that resulted from carrying her heavy bag.
Isuzu quirked an eyebrow once she spotted another girl in the bottom bunk. No matter; Isuzu preferred heights anyhow.
"Hey," she said quietly, nodding rather curtly in the girl's direction.

Mayumi looked up when the door opened, then, quickly pretended she wasn't so interested in finding out who she was rooming with, and looked back toward the movie she had been watching. Every few seconds, though, she would glance up through her lashes at the blonde girl that had entered.
Not really what I pictured, Mayumi thought to herself.
Tugging at an earbud, Mayumi looked at the girl for a long moment, registering that she had said something, but Mayumi didn't hear it. This girl was pretty, and looked like she could handle herself well if the two were ever to argue. Chuckling once, Mayumi continued to silently size up her roommate.
When she had finally yanked the earbud out, Mayumi asked, "You say something?" then shook her head, smirking again. Not the way to go about this, "Hi," she jerked her thumb toward herself, pointing, "Mayumi Yoshida, I'm guessing you're Isuzu Koyama, yeah?"

Feeling a pair of eyes watching her, Isuzu gazed back subtly using her peripheral vision. The way that the other girl seemed to be observing her made the blonde slightly uncomfortable, but she tried not to let it show. Finally she allowed her eyes to meet those of her new roommate's.
Isuzu quirked an eyebrow at the girls first set of chosen words. Regardless of whether it was her fault for not noticing that the raven-haired had earphones in and couldn't hear her, Isuzu hated repeating herself and didn't plan on doing so.
"I'm guessing you're Isuzu Koyama, yeah?" Isuzu had to bite her tongue to stop herself from replying with a duh.
"Yes, that's me," she confirmed, flicking her orange-blond hair that had fallen out in front of her eyes.
Her first reaction to his girl hadn't been to slap her senseless or tell her to get lost, so Isuzu continued to behave civilized.
"Well it's nice meeting you, Mayumi Yoshida," she said casually. She stretched her arms above her head once more and began to take a few steps towards the centre of the room, trying to memorize every piece of furniture and possession.
"So how'd you end up here?" she asked, flashing eyes that were previously staring towards the window at her roommate curiously.

Mayumi nodded in the girl's direction when she said it was "nice to meet" her. She didn't believe it, guessing the other girl was merely being polite. She watched the blonde take a few more steps into the room, stretching her arms over head.
It would have been nice to have gotten along with - or at least been civil with - her roommate. But Mayumi wasn't going to give in to the other girl's personality and be deemed the "weaker" one.
"So how'd you end up here?" Isuzu asked, her gaze flying from the open windows to Mayumi and back again.
Mayumi made a face. What kind of a question is that? Aozora Academy was a performing arts school, how else could she have ended up there other than the performing arts? She rolled her eyes a bit.
"I'm a really great fisherman," Mayumi shrugged. Her sarcasm was stupid, she knew, but... really? "Singing and piano, honestly, though." she closed her laptop and wrapped her blanket tighter around her shoulders. "What're you majoring in?"

"I'm a really great fisherman." Hearing those words, Isuzu quirked an eyebrow at the girl. Her eyes narrowed slightly, not appreciating the other's sarcasm, before closing entirely.
Shrugging, the blonde answered. "I was dumped here so that mother could work," for a moment, she sounded serious, before forcing her tone casual. "I don't really care."
Upon hearing Mayumi's reply of: "Singing and piano.", Isuzu began to glare to where her eyes had returned to just staring out the window. Another singing. Another person she had to compete against. If she had any goal within Aozora Academy, it was to be the very best of her talent.
"Singing. And violin," she answered. Wanting to deter from speaking anymore about her singing, Isuzu quickly added, "So, know anyone around here?"

"I was dumped here so that mother could work," Mayumi gave the girl a skeptical look. "I don't really care." She simply didn't care? How unlikely. Isuzu was so flippant about it that Mayumi could tell right off the bat that she was hiding more than one thing.
"Singing. And violin," the blonde replied. Isuzu didn't give Mayumi a chance to reply before she steered their conversation in a completely different direction. "So, know anyone around here?"
Mayumi considered this for a moment, shrugging. "I know a few people here and there." she said, her tone indifferent. "A few first year singers, a couple actors, and some teachers."
She stood from her spot on the bed, making her way to the pile of photos she had placed on her desk. Snatching those and a roll of clear tape, Mayumi began taping the pictures above her desk.
"Haven't met a dancer yet, though. I also haven't ventured to the dance wing of the school," she voiced her thoughts, turning to the girl after taping the first picture up and smiling softly, albeit semi-threateningly. "You don't mind, right?"
(OOC: Sorry it took me so long to reply, I didn't see that you had!)

Isuzu wasn't too surprised to hear that her new roommate knew a few people in the academy. Isuzu herself hadn't bothered to make acquaintances with anyone else.
Hearing the words "few first year singers", the blonde couldn't help frowning, as it meant she had more competition. She simply nodded to the other's words, acknowledging that she had heard.
"I also haven't ventured to the dance wing of the school." Isuzu nodded again and made a small noise from the back of her throat, once again in acknowledgement. The dorm room being the first place she visited in the school, she hadn't been to any other classrooms or buildings. "Neither have I," she said quietly.
"You don't mind, right?" Isuzu's eyes followed the other girl, to see her holding a stack of photos. She stared at the pile for a moment before shaking her head.
"Do what you want," she said a shrug, looking away. She picked up her bag and rather carelessly placed it on the top bunk bed, deciding to unpack when she was alone.
{ It's all good, I don't mind (: }

Mayumi turned back to her desk, rolling her eyes and tch-ing at her roommate who was, with out a doubt, the one person she had met that was this difficult to get a reaction out of.
She continued taping up the pictures of home and her sister and the temple and Kyoto and America when she had visited with her brother. Mayumi nearly shed a few tears while looking at the photos.
Her moment was interrupted, however, by Isuzu who had tossed her bags up onto the top bunk. It made a loud creaking noise under the weight, and Mayumi briefly wondered why she hadn't taken her father and sister up on the offer to have her own small apartment.
She didn't want to die in a freak bunk-bed accident.
Clearing her throat, Mayumi turned to Isuzu again and hoisted herself up on to her desktop, swinging her feet like she was kicking at water.
Mayumi didn't know that it would have been this hard to find a roommate that let her dominate, take control of the room, and she didn't believe that she would be allowed to switch rooms if she requested it.
Should have just lived alone, she thought, then you wouldn't have anyone to deal with other than in classes.
"How long have you been singing?" Mayumi asked her roommate. "And violin?"

Isuzu's eyes lowered slightly upon hearing the soft tch-ing sound that was most likely directed at her. A slight pang of jealously stung at her heart as she watched her roommate tape up photos. She didn't have that; the photos, and more importantly, the memories to treasure.
Not that she particularly wanted photos. Isuzu didn't care very much about how personalized the room was. The only thing she was slightly wary off was that her stuffed remained hers and Mayumi's remained Mayumi's.
Once she was done with her bags, Isuzu clapped the non-existent dust off of her hands and folded her arms across her chest, leaning back slightly on one of the bed's supportive poles.
"A while," she answered rather bluntly. Her expression softened slightly and she uncrossed her arms, letting them drop to her sides to fidget with the wooden pole behind her. She had decided to elaborate. "Violin since I was a child; singing a few years ago."
"How 'bout you?" She returned the question, flipping her hair out of her eyes to look at the dark-haired girl.

Mayumi fiddled with the tape dispenser, staring not at her roommate, but out the semi-open window on the wall next to her. She kicked her sock-clad heels against the drawers of her desk.
She pursed her lips, thinking. "Ah... Piano since I could read, singing not long after. My sister taught me the basics, but I learned most of the songs I know now on my own."
Glancing quickly at the girl, Mayumi noticed she was squirming slightly, her hands behind her back. The dark-haired girl couldn't tell what was wrong with her roommate.
"Er, are you alright?" Mayumi wondered, then turning to look behind her to the pictures, where the girl's eyes had been fixated a moment ago, Mayumi asked her, "Should I take them down?"
