June 27/The Beginning/PG/Closed

Character(s): Rie Hanazawa and Hikari Amamiya
Time: Approximately midday
Location: 10C, Girls' dormitory

Walking into her new dorm, Rie was surprised that it was actually quite spacious. Apart from the obvious cleaner who had been so kind as to fold the bed sheets and open the window for fresh air to roll in, it looked as if no one had walked into 10C yet. This pleased her so, since it meant she got first pick in sleeping arrangements before her anonymous roomie settled in. That was the only thought concerning Rie’s mind at the moment, instead of wondering who her room mate actually was. The girl continued to throw all her bags carelessly on the top bunk, before turning to explore the place.

After evaluating her new room, as happy as Rie was with the walk in closet, there was still something annoying the teen. “The walls are so ugly, they’re gonna depress me if I don’t sort them out now.” Rie climbed back onto the bunk and picked up one of the smaller bags. After bringing it back down, she fell to the floor on her knees to quickly empty out all the contents before her. The jumbled up mess of fairy lights, posters and stuffed animals was enough to make any little girl jealous. “Fufufu, I’ll make this place pretty in no time~!” And so she proceeded to spread her influence around the dorm.

Along the brightly lit hallway of the girls' dorm, a slender figure slouched toward room 10C. "Wahhh Usa-chan," she complained to the purple stuffed bunny in her arms, "Why didn't I wear shorts? I didn't think it'd still be this hot in September...!"

She spotted room 10C and stopped short. The door was slightly ajar, meaning...

"U-um...hello!" Hikari peeked into the room and uttered a shy greeting to the pink-haired girl who was already setting up her stuff in their dorm. She looked around the room. It was spacious and airy with a giant walk-in closet (which was good since Hikari had brought pretty much everything but the kitchen sink with her to Aozora), but...

Ew, who painted these walls such an ugly gray? Good thing Hikari brought along her Utada Hikaru posters to decorate the walls. Then they wouldn't be such an eyesore to look at...

Realizing that she had spent about 5 minutes standing awkwardly in the doorway, Hikari cleared her throat. "M-mind if I come in?"

After wrestling for ten minutes with the tangled fairy lights, Rie gave up with a huff of frustration, throwing the wires to the ground. “Accursed things…” The pink haired girl mumbled and sat herself next to the desk where she would spend the rest of her time sulking.

“M-mind if I come in…” Rie brought her head from under her crossed arms to see a female about her age, with voluminous pigtails and a pretty face standing in the door way. A sudden wave of excitement overcame the teen as she forgot her previous mood and jumped out of her seat. Her first instinct was to grope the stranger’s fluffy blonde bunches. “How do you make it do that?” Rie's fascination had already gotten the better of her.

Hikari was surprised by the girl's sudden energetic approach. "Uh make what do what?" she asked a little dumbly. She then realized a little belatedly that the girl was talking about her pigtails. "Oh! You mean my hair? Um well I don't do anything special with it if that's what you're asking...all I did was get it cut layered, then tied it up into pigtails. Is it too childish? Oh, and I dyed it blonde too for a more 'unique' look than just having regular black hair like every other Japanese person," she grinned at the pink-haired girl.

"What about you?" she inquired. It was now her turn to be fascinated. "Why'd you decide to go pink? That's even more unique than me!" Hikari respected the girl for having the confidence to go with pink hair. She could pull it off so well! Hikari tugged at her own pigtails and grimaced as she tried to imagine herself with pink hair.

Yeah, that's so not happening any time soon.

Rie couldn’t be more happy as she played about with the puffy pig tails and listened to her room mate talk. When the girl had finished, Rie held her by her sides and smiled “It’s cute.” Hearing the question about her hair, she let go and touched the pink strands, not really understanding what was so good about it. “Don’t you like it?” It wasn’t really a question, Rie just didn’t have a reason for her hair colour. She didn’t have a reason for most things.

“What’s your name?” Rie asked as she flopped onto the bed and patted the space next to her, a signal her roomie should follow suit. She didn’t feel like packing today, not when she could get to know this new person.

Hikari was never one to take compliments very well, so she blushed slightly at her roommate's comment. "Th-thank you. But I love you hair better," she smiled, playing with the ends of her roommate's rosey pink hair. It was such a pretty color!

"I'm Hikari. Hikari Amamiya!" the blonde said as she sat down next to her roommate on her bed. "What's yours?" I bet she has a pretty name to go with her pretty long pink hair, she thought.

After watching the blonde sit down stiffly on the bed, Rie fell backwards, arms spread out and hair sprawled across the sheets. “Hikari…” she sang the name. A cute name for a cute girl, of course. “Hanazawa Rie, that’s me~” The teen kept giggling to herself quietly, excited to be starting school life with this new friend and super comfy bed. It was strange, but a common action of the dazed female.

“So why did you choose to come to Aozora, Hikari-chan?”

Hikari giggled at her silly roommate. She wanted to flop back into the bed like her too, but felt that it would have been weird because it wasn't her bed. So she remained siting up.

"Rie, huh? I like your name." She really did. It was a nice name, and it seemed to suit the pink-haired girl very well.

"Ahh, well, I really love to sing," Hikari answered, "and my parents felt that I had great talent (I tell them that they're nuts though), so they researched top schools for budding artists like me and came across Aozora and enrolled me! So that's how it happened," she smiled. "What about you, Ricchan? Why did you choose Aozora?"

“Fufu, Thanks, I like you.” Rie flicked Hikari’s hair playfully at the comment for friendliness as she crossed her legs and relaxed.

“Me too, I’m in the singing division~ I guess I just came here… because it’s interesting…” Rie stared up at the underside of the top bunk, everything she did really was just out of impulse. Maybe Hikari would understand soon. Either way, she was delighted that her and Hikari could study together.

Suddenly sitting back up and whipping her head to face her room mate, realisation dawned her, “I was supposed to be decorating this dump. You should join me. What do you say?” Rie spoke the words quickly, as if it was the most serious matter to attend to.

Hikari rubbed the back of her head with one arm, slightly embarrassed. "Ahahaha, thank you. I like you too! I'm so glad to have such a friendly roommate."

Hikari suddenly whipped her head around to look at Rie. "Oh, a singing major?" she inquired excitedly. "Yay, we'll be seeing each other outside of this room!" She smiled. "We should do duets or something. That'd be fun."

The blonde was startled at the pink-haired girl's sudden movements. “I was supposed to be decorating this dump. You should join me. What do you say?” Hikari grinned.

"Sure thing," she replied. "Gosh, these walls are SO hideous! Let's brighten up the room." And she got up off the bed and grabbed an Utada Hikaru poster. "I'm going to put this one riiiiiiight...here!"

Aw, I really like Ricchan. I hope we stay friends for a long time.
