Character(s): Ayame Natsuri & Ren Yukio Time: 5:00 pm Location: Student Lounge
"I can't believe we got this play. And I can't believe I got paired up with you!" Ayame groaned, looking over her script. She leaned back in the chair and pushed her bangs to the side as she read. It wasn't just a simple play like everyone else got, oh no.
As she paged through it, looking over the plot summary, the lines, she felt herself getting sick. With every word, she got more annoyed. While the rest of the class got normal plays about slaying dragons or time traveling, she and Ren were assigned Koibumi (lit: Love Letters): The story of two lovers' meeting after sending love letters back and forth through childhood. This was going to be the most awkward assignment she'd ever had to do, but if it was for a grade, she'd have to get through it somehow.
"Ren, have you even looked at your script yet?" she asked in an aggravated tone.

"God damnit. God fucking damnit", Ren thought to himself over and over as he kept pacing back and forth. "NO FUCKING WAY AM I DOING THIS PLAY" Ren shouted in anger. "Koibumi? Are you out of your mind?! don't give me any of that fucking bullshit!" He slammed his hands against the table. He glared at Ayame and put his hands over his forehead.
"No, I haven't and I don't intend to." Ren said bluntly, "Do this play by yourself."

"Do this play by yourself."
She stood up quickly, and threw the script to the floor. "Look, prettyboy. It's not optional. It's your grade just as much as it is mine, and you have to." she growled.
Ayame wasn't going to have this argument, she just wasn't in the mood. If he wanted to ruin his grades, that was fine by her, but if he was going to ruin a grade for the both of them, she wasn't going to stand for it. He'd never been this stubborn before, even when they were younger. Sometimes he'd disagree, well, he'd usually disagree, but he'd never go so far as to remove himself from the situation completely.
"I'm not asking you. I'm telling you. Now pick up your damn script and start putting those rolling eyes of yours to work on this assignment and read through the stupid play." she said, her words dripping through her teeth like blood from a wound.

He gave Ayame the dirtiest look - "And why the fuck should I listen to you?" He put his feet up on the table. Then, Ren pointed to his cheek. "Remember when you slapped me? Yeah." The dirty look on his face never left. "I think you owe me one, Ayame. Because I was this close to punching you in the face." He threatened. Ren would never hit a girl - God no. He's much better than that. He just wanted to make Ayame feel bad at all means - because the day she slapped him hurt him both physically and emotionally. And she was going to pay, he thought.
"Tellin' me, eh?" He laughed a bit. "Fine. If I help you do this play and you get your 'good' mark," Ren said as he kept touching the cheek she slapped a few days ago, "What's in it for me?"

"What's in it for me?"
He was completely serious. A good mark wasn't enough? She growled, and balled her hands into fists. "Alright," she sighed. What's something Ren would want more than anyth- She stopped herself, knowing that what Ren really wanted, she couldn't grant, as much as she wished she could. I suppose he'd want... for me to leave him alone.
"Alright," she repeated. "I guess, if you just do this stupid assignment, I'll leave you alone. For as long as you want. I won't bother you anymore, and it'll be like we never even met again. That's what you want, right?" Tears pushed at the backs of her eyelids just thinking about not being around him, but she stopped herself.
She didn't need that jerk, but his happiness was something she wanted more than anything. If it meant she wouldn't be around him, that was fine.

His eyes widened as she said she'd leave Ren alone for as long as he wanted. "Mmm.." He smirked and scratched the back of his head. "Tempting, tempting." He could tell Ayame was holding back tears, and that made him feel uneasy. "I don't want you to do something that'll make you cry, Ayame." He said while laughing. "God, you're horrible at holding back your tears. I can already see them." He rolled his eyes and threw her his handkerchief.
If Ren knew anybody well, it would be Ayame. Ren could always tell when Ayame would cry - because that's all she did when they were together. Whether he made her cry or not, he'd drown in guilt every time she did - forcing himself to believe that he was the reason why those tears fell in the first place.
"Stop crying about every little thing," Ren mumbled. He sat up properly and scratched his head again out of frustration. "Fine, whatever. I'll do the play. Just stop it with the tears, God damnit." He picked up the script from the table, "I used to cry all the time but then I turned 5." He started flipping through the pages, "So grow up."
"By the way, I want an apology, bitch." He added as he pointed to his cheek again. He was never going to forget the moment Ayame actually slapped him.

"Shut up," she growled, staring at the script. "Just shut up. The sooner we get through this, the sooner you can get rid of me, and you can go back to being by yourself."
"By the way, I want an apology, bitch." he said, pointing to his cheek.
The nerve of him. "Like you didn't deserve it." she muttered. Waiting a minute, she dropped the stack of papers on the table in front of her and looked at Ren. "I'm sorry." Tears gathered around her eyes.
"By the way, you don't need to point this out," she added, wiping them away. "I know." Somehow, despite all the times her father told her not to cry, and all the times that she'd fallen down, or was wounded in battle, she didn't cry. But around Ren, she seemed to do it an awful lot, much more than she'd like to admit.

Ren smiled as she apologized, but that soon disappeared as he saw the tears gather around her eyes. "Didn't I fucking tell you to stop crying?" He dropped the script and stared at her hopelessly. "Use that handkerchief before you start to get everything wet or whatever." He sighed and placed his hand onto his face. "You're hopeless."
He picked up the script again and started reading, and then laughing. "Are you serious? You actually think I'm going to say these cheesy lines?" He looked at her pathetically. "Don't tell me there's a kissing scene." He mumbled while shaking his head.
He didn't think he was going to pull this off at all - But if it was going to make Ayame happy... "fuck my life." He thought.

A kissing scene? Her eyes widened.
"I wouldn't kiss you if my life depended on it, let alone a grade." she mumbled harshly, turning the pages and not bothering to look at him. Lie, lie, lie. "But you do have to recite your lines if you want to get a good enough mark in that class. And I think we both know that the only thing you want more than getting rid of me right now, is getting out of this school."
Being honest with herself, she thought about what it would be like to kiss Ren. She'd never kissed anyone in her life. Had he? Was he some kind of experienced player, while she was the child? Shaking the thought from her head, she looked up.
"We should practice this, don't you think? We only have a week."

"Yeah, yeah. Save it for someone who cares." He grinned as he was looking at his lines. "Tch. You know me too well." He rolled his eyes at her remark, but she was right. If he ever did want to graduate and become a famous actor, he'd have to get really outstanding grades.
"Practice? Eh." He threw the script on the table once he was finished with it. "It's simple. Why would you want to practice?" He gave her a dirty look again, thinking this whole thing was a waste of time. "But if you want to, I guess."
"I finished reading through the script, there's no kissing scene or whatever." He laughed, "Thank God. You've probably haven't even had your first kiss yet, right?"

"You've probably haven't even had your first kiss yet, right?"
"And you have?" she asked, not looking the least bit moved or intimidated. "That's off topic, let's just get this over with."
As she began reading through the lines of the miserably short and poorly written script, she couldn't get her mind off how well he knew her. Maybe if she hadn't moved every other month for the last decade, she would have. She knew that even if she had stayed in once place longer, she wouldn't have been able to. Back in the days of playing tag and building sandcastles, she promised herself that her first kiss would be with Ren, even if his wasn't with her.

Ren didn't even hesitate to answer - he just smirked. "What do you think I've been doing these past years?" He laughed. "Mmm, So Ayame-chan hasn't kissed anybody, that's cute." He teased, even though she announced she wanted to change topics.
He kept on laughing at her and added, "Alright alright, what do you want to practice first?" He opened the script and waited for her response.

"Mmm, So Ayame-chan hasn't kissed anybody, that's cute."
Her face grew red with embarrassment and anger, but she wouldn't let him know in any other way. Although, she really never had much of a desire to kiss anyone, despite finding many boys attractive; that Atticus guy for one. The only thing important to her was revenge. Well, that's a bit of a lie. The most important thing was revenge, but many things were important to her.
"Alright alright, what do you want to practice first?"
She raised her eyebrows at the script. "I don't know. The beginning? That's where most plays start, right?"

"Ah, yeah." He said as he turned the page to the first one. He sighed deeply and read over the lines quickly, "you sure you want to do this?" He turned over to the right side of the room where a big clock was placed, "Fuck. It's only 5:15." He thought - what kind of excuse will he make up to get out of this one? With it being only 15 minutes, there's no way he could just leave and get away with it.
He stared at her unamused, "Fine. Your line. Make this quick I'm fucking bored."

Crumpling the edges of the pages with her nervous fingers, she started through her first few lines, trying her best to sound convincing. As annoyed as she was with Ren, she managed to sound like she was really in love with him.
"And through letters of love and happiness, and the wide, roaring ocean between us, fate has brought us together at last--" she stopped and looked at him. "This is the dumbest thing I've read in my life." The lines were cheesy and full of the sickening romance trash that her mother used to read.
