She could feel and hear Arlette trying to comfort her. Though it didn't rid her the thoughts of her siblings, it made her feel a bit better to know that she would consider comforting a stranger. "Thank you," she said softly. "I can be.. a bit emotional, sometimes. I'm sorry that you have to see this side of me."
Hearing Arlette ask if she wanted to talk about it made Yumiko want to spill her guts out, though she knew that that was probably not the best idea. Usually in a situation like this, she would feel as if the person were invading her privacy, but this was different. She wanted to confide in the girl, but seeing as she lacked trust in most people, she couldn't bring herself to do so.
Maybe we'll become better friends and I can trust her, she thought. I really hope I can. "It's fine, really.. Just some personal things.. about my family." Pulling herself together, she gave an awkward smile. "Sorry about this." Silently praying that the girl wouldn't think much of her mood swings, she bowed her head in apology.
Acting. "That's interesting.. I wish I had the ability to act.. I'm no good at hiding things from people and getting into character.." Chuckling softly, she listened as Arlette spoke of her home. "That seems like a lovely place," she said sincerely. "I sort of want to travel there.. but maybe later, when I'm finished with school. It would be a nice little getaway and change of scenery."

"Woah, seriously?!" Rin asked Ayame, suddenly excited. "Weird things in the old dorms? Like, supernatural things? Ghosts? Aliens?! Monsters?!" He listed off energetically. It was Rin's passion to impersonate the above, but he'd always wanted to meet a "real" supernatural thing up close.
Man, that's why the architecture looks so different compared to the rest of the campus, Rin thought, pulling back his art history lessons on architecture. "It sounds like a totally awesome mystery to me! I know you're going to the library, so would you mind if I came with ya? We could research about this," Rin said, automatically canceling his plans for that night.
What happened in those dorms? Well, with that information, I could pull the biggest prank in history if I just knew what happened...Then I could reenact it! Haha! Rin grinned to himself, already seeing his devious prank being put into action. He was then reminded that Ayame was right there in front of him, watching his emotions play across his face.
"Nah, you're not rambling at all," he added. That girl probably thinks I'm some crazy lunatic by now, Rin thought, slightly worried.

"I'm not too sure, no one really knows for sure. You'd never expect for a place with a name like Blue Sky Academy to have such dark secrets, you know?" So far, she was liking this Ren guy--No, his name was Rin. Rin. Well, so much for making female friends.
"It sounds like a totally awesome mystery to me! I know you're going to the library, so would you mind if I came with ya? We could research about this," He sounded so excited, which was strange, because no one really even pretended to be excited since the term had started.
"Well, yeah." she answered, smiling. "There has to be something somewhere, right? Maybe not even just the library, we could go poking around the grounds where the old dorms were tomorrow night. Unless of course that creeps you out."
Most people she met before were horrified by the idea of ghosts or anything remotely scary, so she wasn't going to pass up a chance to make a friend with somewhat similar interests. This Rin character was pretty cool, and the first new friend she'd made. And so she decided that it was fate that she ran into him on the way to practice for a play that she had almost no interest in aside from her partner.

"Tch, creep me out?" Rin puffed out his chest. "I am the embodiment of the night!" He put his fist against his chest and nodded with determination. Rin liked Ayame; she was nice, friendly, and was into sneaking around at night. Maybe she even had the potential to be his prankster-in-crime. Maybe. He would have to see though, as some of his pranks had the ability to go just a little too far...
"Tomorrow night sounds like a good time," Rin continued. He mentally began making a list of things he might want to bring. Flashlight, dark clothing, thick socks that he could stealth-walk in. "Is there a place you wanted to meet up?" he asked, still pondering over his preparations.
Rin glanced over Ayame to cautiously take in the two girls by the window sill. "Um, if you wouldn't mind, could this nighttime adventure be just the two of us? Too many people would attract a lot of attention," he said in an undertone, thinking logically and practically, instead of the other way this could be taken.

She laughed, covering her mouth with her hand, and nodded. "Alright, Mr. Embodiment of the Night," she giggled. "Don't worry about it, I won't tell people about it. It's not like no one's every tried this before, right?"
Now she was hooked on this whole mystery solving spiel. If she'd have to attend Aozora for another year, she'd have to make the best of it and try to have fun. And if she was going to do so, she couldn't just lock up and be neutral with every single person she talked to. If making friends could have been this easy at all her other schools, she'd probably have spoken easier with Ren... Damn it. Stop thinking about him. This doesn't even involve him.
"Anyways, it sounds good. I'll meet you at the back doors right after the dorm advisors check the halls. And if you could, try not to even mention this. Just... you know. People might get the wrong idea from a girl and a boy sneaking out after dark, you know?"
Once again, she was making an alteration to the plan because of Ren. Because of what Ren might think. She had to clear her mind, or at least of him, before she went completely insane.

"I can be.. a bit emotional, sometimes. I'm sorry that you have to see this side of me."
"Oh, ah...alright," Arlette was hesitant to say anything more, "uhm, don't mind me, let me hazard a guess, but are you homesick?" She'd seen some of her juniors from her past boarding school, awfully homesick and missing everything they were familiar with. Ah, god, you just met her justshutupjustshutup "Scratch that, okay, scratch that," Arlette added very hurriedly, wishing she did not just add fuel to the fire.
"E-eh," Arlette stuttered -the ex-vice-president of her old school's Debate Society- never ever stuttered. "I'll listen, like, if anything pops up, alright?"
"That's interesting.. I wish I had the ability to act.. I'm no good at hiding things from people and getting into character.."
"Ah, well, I wasn't great at it at first, but then I got pulled into the world of acting and theatrics by one of my seniors, and then I took drama as a subject back home." Arlette explained, for some reason, her mind began to wander -just ever so slightly- about how everyone was back home. Maybe she should send a letter soon. "But at least you can sing! It's a wonderful talent."
"I sort of want to travel there.. but maybe later, when I'm finished with school. It would be a nice little getaway and change of scenery."
Arlette grinned, she was always excited when someone said that they wished to visit her homeland. "It's beautiful, truly. Maybe I could take you someday! Like during the break or something!"

Yumiko all but cried as the girl asked if she was homesick. Not exactly homesick.. everything here just reminds me of my siblings who I miss everyday since they abandoned my family. She couldn't say that out loud, especially since she had just met Arlette, but she hoped in time that, if ever they were to get to a point where they were good friends, she'd be able to explain herself and her mood swings. Trying to steady her voice, she nodded, trying not to make her explanation too difficult. "Homesick.. yeah. I miss my family," she said. If only she knew.."I'll listen, like, if anything pops up, alright?" Hearing this, Yumiko felt relieved. "Thank you," she said quietly. "That means.. a lot, actually.." Knowing that someone she just met would even consider listening to her lame problems made her feel a bit better. She's quite a nice person, she mused as she looked up at Arlette. I can see us being good friends. Giving her a weak smile, she hoped that she would excuse her and her emotional problems. Nodding as she talked about her beginnings in acting, Yumiko began to think about how her life would be if she pursued acting. Shaking the thought away, she listened as Arlette spoke of how singing was a wonderful talent. Suddenly beaming, Yumiko nodded. I've never been this excited about my singing like this before. "Singing is.. it's quite fun, actually," she said, trying to lighten the mood and set aside her little scene. "It's a nice way to.. calm yourself." "It's beautiful, truly. Maybe I could take you someday! Like during the break or something!" "That'd be great!" Yumiko responded, a wide smile spreading across her face. "I'd be honored to go with you, Arlette." She could just imagine the bond that the two would have, getting herself excited and anticipating the coming friendship. M aybe I won't pick fights with people here, she thought. It'd be nice to live a normal life for once.

Rin grinned widely as Ayame accepted his offer. Excitement had him jumping up and down a little. "This is going to be so awesome," he said, nodding vigorously. Sure, he was looking forward to sneaking around at night, but the biggest thing that excited him was figuring out what really happened at the old dorms. If Rin could just do that, he'd become the greatest prankster in history. That is, assuming he could pull off a safe interpretation of what had happened.
He did feel a little bothered though. Rin wondered if Ayame was a stealth kind of person. He mentally shook his head. I shouldn't doubt her, he thought. She seems like the kind of person where if we both got caught, she'd understand why. Rin turned his mind back to Ayame as she said, "Anyways, it sounds good. I'll meet you at the back doors right after the dorm advisors check the halls. And if you could, try not to even mention this. Just... you know. People might get the wrong idea from a girl and a boy sneaking out after dark, you know?"
"Yeah. That's cool. Back doors. A secret," he nodded. Rin couldn't help but notice how her expression seemed slightly bothered. "I promise ya I'll cover for you if we get caught," Rin said, worried that maybe she didn't trust him fully, though they'd just met. "Or is something else bothering you? Was it those two girls over there?" Rin lowered his voice on the second question, narrowing his eyes at the windowsill.

"Thank you," she said quietly. "That means.. a lot, actually.."
"Ah, don't mention it," Arlette replied in the same tone, knowing that this girl was not okay. But homesickness it was, and Arlette did not wish to crack the dam by prying further. it was not her business, really. But somehow she felt close to Yumiko, and that out of the so many kids she'd met at Aozora, she could trust Yumiko.
"It's a nice way to.. calm yourself."
"That's amazing!" Arlette said excitedly, she could never sing. She was never confident in the sound of her voice following even the simplest of tunes, and was too busy to pick up an accompanying instrument. And anyway, Arlette couldn't even tell if someone was truly out of tone. "Don't mind me asking, do you think you could sing a little song now?" Arlette paused, the words had just spilled out of her mouth, "ah, nevermind, you don't have to, if you're not comfortable. Sorry, random request."
"I'd be honored to go with you, Arlette."
"That's great," Arlette returned with a genuine grin, "but no need for honor, haha. France is amazing." Feeling she had talked about herself a bit too much, Arlette asked Yumiko, "so what's your story here in Japan?"
Further down the corridor, Arlette realised Ayame and that dark-haired boy were still there. Maybe there was a reason they were there on their own? She nearly shrugged, she wasn't too bothered to pursue that.

"Don't mind me asking, do you think you could sing a little song now?" "I'd be glad to," she responded, sifting through several songs in her head. Since she had arrived at Aozora, all she really listened to on her iPod was Mumford and Sons. Taking a deep breath, and clearing her mind, she opened her mouth and let her voice take over. "Can you lie next to her, and give her your heart, your heart," she began, letting her voice fill the air around her. "As well as your body, and can you lie next to her, and confess your love, your love?" A smile started to form as she continued to sing, the words of the song embodying every emotion she felt. "But tell me now where was my fault, in loving you with my whole heart."Slowly, she dropped her volume and stopped, turning to Arlette for feedback. "I'm sorry that wasn't much," she said. "It would sound much better if I had a guitar with me." "so what's your story here in Japan?" Sighing, she ran her fingers through her hair. "I grew up a bit away from here, outside of the city.. and uh.. I have 3 brothers, 2 sisters, and I lived with my mom and dad.." Giving her a weak smile, she apologized. "It's not much of a story, really. I was just enrolled in vocal classes and here I am."

"I promise ya I'll cover for you if we get caught," Rin said. Ayame smiled at his kind offer. Usually, she was the one ratted out, because she was the girl and her punishment would be less severe. He really was a real gentleman.
"Eh, that's alright," she said. "If we would get caught, it'd probably be my fault anyways."
"Or is something else bothering you? Was it those two girls over there?" he asked.
Surprised, she waved her hand. "No, don't worry about it. Just a lot on my mind. New school, new people, it's kind of a lot for one week." she explained. "Well anyways, I'll meet up with you later. I think it'd be easier for me to just study back at my dorm, I won't run into anyone there. Back doors tomorrow, don't stand me up."
Ayame smiled once more, and walked off, nodding her goodbye. She wanted to meet more people like Rin; people that were up for adventure and were willing to take hits for others, simply because that's how Ryouya was up until the day he died.

"I'm sorry that wasn't much," she said. "It would sound much better if I had a guitar with me."
Arlette's grin widened, it was beautiful. "That's okay, it was exquisite." But then again, Arlette found hearing people sing in front of her beautiful and all. "Oh, you play the guitar?" She continued, sounding like a mesmerized little kid at a candy shop. "Amazing!"
"It's not much of a story, really. I was just enrolled in vocal classes and here I am."
"Oh, but there's always a story," Arlette couldn't help but say, as she crossed one leg over another. "That's a big family," she commented, "how's it growing up here? Or was it... just pretty ordinary?"

Yumiko ran a hand through her hair, listening to Arlette's excited voice. "That you, and yes I do. If ever you wanted to learn, I could teach you," she said, giving a smile. Sheseems to be very interested in music, so I guess it wouldn't hurt, right?
She knew there was a story, and the more she talked to Arlette, she wanted to let it spill from her lips. Maybe telling her wouldn't hurt, she thought, knowing that in the back of her mind, it was a bad idea. "I.." she began, softly. "I was enrolled in vocal classes because.. I was a bit of a delinquent and my parents wanted me to channel my anger elsewhere.." Looking up at Arlette, she continued. "I got suspended a handful of times for causing fights and beating up other kids.." That seems so out of character, Yumiko thought, trying to picture the girl she was now committing such things.
"My parents wanted the violence to stop all together, but.. that was hard.. though, singing and just music in general has been able to tone it down, which is good.." She heaved a sigh, feeling as if, now that she was talking, she wouldn't be able to stop. "Growing up.. for the most part, was ordinary. My siblings and I would be together at all times.. but gradually, since they were older, they started to leave me and my twin behind.. and that's why I would get angry.. I felt.. alone.." Yumiko bit down on her lip so hard that she could feel blood, knowing that it was the only way to hold back tears, thinking about his distant siblings. "It was a stupid thing to get angry about but.. I hated them for leaving."
Turning to Arlette with her damp eyes, she gave a weak smile. "Sorry about this."

"Sorry about this."
Arlette looked at Yumiko, right in the eye, just for a moment and became silent as she let the girl's story sink in. After the moment had passed, Arlette's lips curled upwards into a small smile. "Don't apologize. It's admirable, that you've changed, for what seems like the better."
She seems so different from what she's described... Just... wow.
"You aren't alone here," She saw Yumiko biting her lip -probably drawing blood, it was an old habit of Arlette's before- "It's okay. Be angry. It lets everything out," Arlette paused, "but you don't contact them?"
Awkwardly, the French girl realised it was probably best not to remind her, and so added awkwardly as she twirled the ends of her pale brown hair together with her slender fingertips, "Sorry to pry. And sorry for sounding like a therapist; you probably don't need that from me."

"It's okay. Be angry. It lets everything out," Arlette paused, "but you don't contact them?" Yumiko sighed. She knew that that question was going to be asked at some point or another. Running a hand through her hair, she racked her brain for the proper wording for what she had to say. "I.. I try, well.. I used to try. They don't call back or e-mail back or.. They just act like we don't exist.." There was more to it, though Yumiko didn't quite know why her siblings had decided to cut themselves off from family. It was only Yumiko who was upset with everyone, right? "Sorry to pry. And sorry for sounding like a therapist; you probably don't need that from me." Yumiko waved away the apology, giving some kind of reassuring smile to Arlette. "Don't worry.. I'm glad I can talk to someone, though.. I don't really know you as well as I wish I did.." Biting her lip, Yumiko gave an apologetic smile. "I.. I'm sure that we.. we'll become good friends, right? So it's okay.." My words keep spilling.
