Character(s): Arlette Yuen-Winchester, Yumiko Kameshiro and anyone who wishes to join! Time: 5:00 pm Location: Hallway
Thehallways were something Arlette hadn't yet explored. In her old school, there were so many hallways and corridors it was difficult to navigate. To her relief, there weren't as many, but still such a campus outline to memorize.
Arlette walked along, hands in the pockets of her black jeans and her pale brown hair tied into a bun. She walked until there was an old-looking window with a ledge, from which afternoon sunlight shone. She sat on the ledge with her legs up, and rested her chin in the palm of her hand, and looked outside to see what Aozora had to offer.

"It's such a huge place," Yumiko said to herself as she made her way down one of the grand hallways. She had spent the rest of her day exploring, in hopes of memorizing certain places so she wouldn't get lost in the future. But there's still so much to see.
Humming to herself, she closed her eyes and continued to walk to some sort of inner beat she felt within herself. A small smile played at her lips as she continued. Yumiko was thankful that the hallways were close to empty, allowing her to walk blindly without having to worry too much.
Huh? She opened her eyes, glancing around her. There was nobody there except for a girl who seemed to be of the same age. I wonder who she is, Yumiko thought. Carefully, she inched closer, thinking of what to say to her first. Despite her natural behaviour, curiosity was getting the best of her at the moment.
Bravely, she tapped the girl's shoulder, biting her lip. Maybe I shouldn't be bugging her, she thought, even though it was too late to turn back now that she had gotten her attention.
"H-Hey," she said, trying to put on a friendly smile. She coughed, clearing herself of any shyness. What's there to lose? "I'm Yumiko Kameshiro. Nice to meet you." She held her hand out to the girl, carefully assessing her appearance. What if she isn't as friendly as she looks?

Her intention was to get to the library to read over her lines again. The acting teacher wasn't exactly happy about the fact that she'd lost her script off campus, and definitely not while she was around that temperamental Ren character, but she reluctantly replaced her script with the promise of a good presentation.
She was halfway to the main hall when she noticed two girls together, one she recognized as Arlette from her foreign language class, the other unfamiliar. There wasn't much time to pay attention to them, but she smiled and waved as she got closer.
What are you doing, Ayame? There's no time to make friends. Get to the library and memorize the stupid play. She wiped the smile off her face, and kept her eyes straight ahead. The voice in her head was right. Friendship equals distraction, and distractions keep you from your goals. However, no friends also meant no allies, and no allies meant weakness. She was in no position to leave herself vulnerable.
Holding her hand out, she introduced herself to the girl she'd never seen. "Hi, I'm Ayame. Second year."

Arlette felt someone tap on her shoulder, very lightly, and as surprised as she was, she tried not to flinch. Looking over, she saw a Japanese-looking girl with long dark hair passing her shoulders, and bright amber eyes.
"I'm Yumiko Kameshiro. Nice to meet you."
The girl Yumiko then extended a hand to Arlette, which she took into her own with a slight smile. "Well, hello, there. I'm Arlette" After a moment or so, Arlette removed her curled up legs from the ledge, "a seat for you?"
From behind the girl, another figure approached, another girl with her blonde hair tied up. Immediately, Arlette recognised her as Ayame, from her German class. Stretching slightly until she saw Ayame in full view, making sure the blonde could see her, Arlette waved to her.

With a nod, she joined Arlette on the ledge, a small smile appearing on her face. So far, so good. Arlette's appearance interested Yumiko, since she didn't seem to be Japanese like some of the other students and herself.
"So, Arlette," she began. "Where are you from? You don't look Japanese." You're being too farward, you moron, she scolded herself. No matter how curious you may get, you need to remember your manners, damn it.
Yumiko's head whipped around at the sound of another stranger. Her sight was welcomed by a pretty young woman, though the air around her seemed a bit more serious. Whatever, Yumiko thought as she took the girl's hand. Ayame, huh? "I'm Yumiko Kameshiro, second year. Nice to meet you."

"I'm Yumiko Kameshiro, second year. Nice to meet you."
Another second year. "Cool, same year, maybe I'll see you around." she said, shaking her hand, and turning back toward the library. "Well anyways, I better get going. Sorry." She waved her goodbye and headed off, walking as fast as she could. It probably seemed like she was trying to get away, but that really wasn't it.
Sighing, she made her way down the hall and far enough from the two others that she could relax. This idea of being in one place for an extended period of time was so bizarre, and it'd be hard to get used to.
This is not a battleground, Ayame. Get this idea of allies and enemies out of your head and focus on more important things.

Whistling a peppy tune, Rin casually strolled down the hallway after a long day of classes. He absentmindedly played with his uniform tie, making a mental note of the homework he had to begin that night. I'll have to begin studying as soon as I can so I can head over to the theater department, Rin thought, looking up at the ceiling while continuing to walk.
It was in this manner that he didn't notice the other girl walking in the opposite direction. Rin ran into her; or, as some would say, collided. He backed a step, surprised. Rin looked at the blonde girl in front of him and broke into a grin. "Sorry! I wasn't watchin' where I was going. You alright?" he asked.

Without realizing it, so lost in thought, she didn't even see the dark haired boy until she ran plumb into him. Looking surprised and embarrassed, she shook her head and brushed a few stray hairs from her face.
"Don't worry about it," she mumbled, adjusting her tie. "I'm sorry. My mind was a million miles away. Anyways, I have to get going, maybe I'll see you around!"
And without even asking his name, she started walking away again. Suddenly, she felt bad and stopped. Did she forget all of her manners once her mind shifted to something else? If so, she'd have to work on that, starting now. "God, I don't know what's wrong with me. I'm Ayame Natsuri, second year. And you are?"

Rin was glad she was alright, but was taken aback as she quickly walked away. Way to play it cool, Rin, he thought to himself, thinking that he had perhaps scared the blonde girl away. He was surprised once again as the girl introduced herself to him. Rin was comforted in the fact that he hadn't scared the girl away. That would've ended his day on a bad note.
"Rin. Okumura Rin. Second year, too," he replied, flashing a friendly smile. "Nothin's wrong with you. It's my fault I bumped into you, sorry," Rin laughed, shouldering his backpack more firmly. He glanced around Ayame to see and managed to see two girls sitting on a window ledge. Had Ayame been walking away from those two? If she was walking down this hallway, she'd had to have walked past those two. Rin spent a moment calculating, his curiosity getting the better of him.
You think too much, Rin thought accusingly to himself. He turned his mind back to Ayame and cheerfully asked, "So, where are you off to? You seemed like you were in a bit of a hurry until we ran into each other."

"So, where are you off to? You seemed like you were in a bit of a hurry until we ran into each other."
"Nice to meet you, Rin," she began, tightening one of her pigtails, noticing how similar his name was to Ren's. "I was just headed to the library. Have to catch up on schoolwork and that stuff, you know." Finally able to look up at him, she noticed that he was tall; much taller than her. He had dark blue eyes that matched the thick blue of the walls, and long dark hair. At first glance, he looked a bit like her oldest brother when he was in high school.
"So, you seemed to be headed somewhere too. Mind if I ask?"

"Where are you from? You don't look Japanese." Yumiko asked Arlette as Yumiko sat by the ledge next to her.
"Well, you're right," Arlette replied immediately, "I'm from France, aha. How about you? Uh, Japan?" Arlette knew it sounded dumb of her to assume this girl Yumiko was from Japan, for all she knew Yumiko came from the furthest ends of the Australian outback or America or something. "And second year too? What's your major, don't mind me asking so much."
From her angle, she saw Ayame wave goodbye to them -maybe she was in some sort of rush?- and watched the blonde met a dark-haired boy Arlette was sure she had never seen before. As much as she would have like to say hello, Arlette was convinced she would have scared the crap out of him just to call a greeting from so far away, so down the hallway.

"Back to my dorm to finish homework, and then I'm going to-," Rin said, abruptly ending his sentence. He'd planned to study and then at night, sneak over into the theater department to check out the stage and lighting. Rin wasn't much of a techie, but it was fun to play around with the lights. "You know, just going to relax after that, " he added, trying to act casual.
He wasn't aware of many people in this school who knew his reckless and prankster attitude. Well, the principal did of course, since Rin had been caught a few times in his nighttime wanderings during his first year, but other than that, no one. He wasn't planning on letting anyone tag along on his after-school adventures, either.
I hope I don't look suspicious. Acting mode, go! Rin let another friendly grin on his face, hoping Ayame wouldn't think of anything.

France. "That's sort of far, huh.." Yumiko responded, lost in thought. Takara always wanted to travel to France.. Thinking about her distant sister made Yumiko's eyes begin to sting. Shit. "S-Sorry.. Something's in my eye," she said, wiping at the coming tears. She can probably tell I'm lying.
Realizing that she had left Arlette's questions unanswered, she bit her lip. Stupid Yumiko, she scolded herself. "Yes, yes, Japan. I'm from Japan," she sputtered. "Yeah, second year.. Major? Oh, uh.. I'm a vocal major." Frustrated with herself, she buried her face in her hands.
"Sorry.. I'm just.." Yumiko couldn't find the words to say. The only thing on her mind now were her siblings and how they had promised to travel together when they were older. You can't cry, not now, not in front of a stranger. Taking a deep breath, she looked back up at Arlette. "I've got a lot on my mind," she said, giving a weak smile. "Do tell me more about yourself, though. What do you major in? What's France like?"

Sensing that there was more that he was going to say, Ayame just smiled, accepting that it was none of her business, just as she would want someone to do for her. "I see," she remarked.
This Rin guy seemed a bit off, but who was she to talk when her best friends were Ren and Yousuke? "So have you found anything interesting to do here yet? I heard that some weird things took place in the old dorms way back, which is why even though the school was built over fifty years ago, the dorms look more modern."
Actually, she'd only heard bits and pieces of this story as she went from class to class, but she was curious about finding more about it. "Sounds like a good mystery, don't you think? I wonder what was so bad about it that they did so much to cover it up, and even build up new dorms..."
Realizing she'd gone off on a tangent, she perked up. "S-Sorry. I'm rambling, aren't I?"

"Yeah, it's pretty far from home." Arlette shrugged, but smiled. "But I felt like I needed something new, like a whole, blazing-new foreign adventure. Then, the girl, Yumiko, she was beginning to tear.
Ohmygod what did I say... Arlette's mind screamed, but she only placed her hand on Yumiko's slowly -a what Arlette hoped was a comforting gesture. "Shhh," Arlette said very softly out of instinct. It was something she had always done back home when her friends were down.
"Ah, a vocal major. Always admired those with a singing voice," Arlette said wistfully as Yumiko buried her face in her hands. "Ah...." She started awkwardly, "It's okay... We all do, but do you wish to talk... or something?" The French girl was never the best at dealing with new people and their emotions, but a girl could try.
You just met her, why on earth would she tell you what's wrong? The thought shot into her head, but Arlette almost shook her head. "Ah, uh, well, I'm an acting major. Well, France is pretty picturesque, with all the shops and sights, I guess. I grew up in the French countryside, but went to school in Paris..."
She seems so sad...Maybe I should just shut the hell up now
